College Board's AP Prototype Development and Evaluation team helps AP learn fast and decide well on major innovations, producing decision-ready recommendations grounded in market requirements, feasibility, and evidence from staged pilots.

The Associate Director, Project & Portfolio Management brings structure and continuity to a fast-moving portfolio of prototype and pilot initiatives, in a fully remote or hybrid role that moves between cross-functional execution and managing the team's decision-ready documents.

Responsibilities
  • Owns project management across the full lifecycle of the team's prototype and pilot initiatives, including timelines, milestones, and decision gates.
  • Coordinates cross-functional work, convening contributors and keeping workstreams aligned to charters and deadlines.
  • Tracks risks, blockers, dependencies, and decisions across active initiatives, escalating items that threaten timelines or go/no-go gates.
  • Owns the team's document and knowledge management system, including the artifact library, templates, and version control.
  • Builds and maintains trackers and status reporting that give the team and leadership a clear view of portfolio health.
  • Facilitates agile-style planning, including sprint or cycle planning, standups, and retrospectives.

Requirements
  • 4+ years of experience in project or program management, managing complex, multi-stakeholder portfolios across their full lifecycle.
  • Experience owning knowledge and document management systems, including templates, version control, and reusable artifact libraries.
  • Strong writing, editing, and document production skills under tight timelines.
  • Preferred: experience with Agile methodology.
  • Hiring range of $56,000-$90,000, with the ability to travel up to 10% of the time.
