Position Description
Advertised Job Summary | Assistant Director of Financial Aid (Financial Aid Specialist), Salary: $40,269 – $49,330 per year, USCA Financial Aid
A primary role of the Assistant Director of Financial Aid is to provide exceptional service to students and families in a highly personalized operation. The Assistant Director manages communications and front-line services for the Office of Financial Aid. Will supervise the Administrative Assistant with responsibilities for all communications with students and families. Will manage a caseload of financial aid applicant file reviews. The Assistant Director assists in providing training and support to all staff when applicable. The Assistant Director manages USC Aiken’s Financial Aid Satisfactory Academic Progress Policy (SAP), overseeing and determining a student’s standing related to SAP, and works as a liaison with the University’s Financial Aid Committee on SAP Appeals. Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Strong supervisory and interpersonal skills, keen attention to detail, familiarity with enterprise-type systems such as Banner, and literacy with MS office and PC applications. Minimum requirements: Bachelor’s degree in a job related field and 1 or more years of job related experience, which may be substituted by an equivalent combination of job related certification, training, education, and/or experience. Preferred: Master degree and 2 years financial aid or related experience. Supervisory experience. Preference will be given to those with experience in Institutional Methodology (IM), Common Origination and Disbursement (COD), and Direct Loan and Student Employment processing in Banner. Revise student financial data within guidelines for federal and institutional records, ensure compliance with federal awarding regulations, and determine student eligibility. Monitors student records for compliance with individual stipulations imposed upon particular students as a result of their respective academic histories.
