The Automation Architect at Bright Horizons will play a dual role: (1) working hands-on with automation frameworks and tools, and (2) shaping and executing the organization’s automation strategy. This position is critical as Bright Horizons embarks on leveraging AI-driven automation to enhance quality, speed, and reliability across its technology landscape.

This Hybrid role requires in-person work at our Newton, MA headquarters

Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, and implement scalable automation frameworks and solutions across web, mobile, API, and backend applications, with a strong focus on enterprise integration and business process automation.
  • Lead the strategy, planning, and execution of automation initiatives, ensuring alignment with business goals and technology roadmaps.
  • Drive the adoption and integration of ACCELQ for test automation, including tool configuration, best practices, and knowledge transfer to QA and development teams.
  • Evaluate and implement other low-code/no-code automation tools as needed, ensuring flexibility and scalability of the automation ecosystem.
  • Integrate AI-powered testing approaches (e.g., AI-assisted, AI-augmented, autonomous testing) to improve test coverage, efficiency, and defect detection⁠
  • Set up and maintain CI/CD pipelines for automated testing and code deployment, ensuring seamless integration with development workflows and rapid delivery cycles⁠
  • Collaborate with stakeholders (developers, QA, business analysts, product owners) to define automation requirements, ensure quality standards, and promote a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and training to team members on automation best practices, frameworks, and new technologies.

Minimum Job Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer science or related technologies - Required
  • 10 years of:
  • Hands-on expertise with automation frameworks and tools for web, mobile, API, and backend testing.
  • Experience with ACCELQ or similar low-code/no-code automation platforms (e.g., Mabl, Testim etc) is highly preferred⁠.
  • Proficiency in programming languages commonly used in automation, such as Python, Java, or JavaScript, with the ability to write, maintain, and review code⁠.
  • Experience setting up and managing CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps) and automated deployment workflows⁠.
  • Knowledge of AI integration in test automation, including AI-powered test generation, intelligent defect detection, and adaptive test maintenance⁠

Additional Job Requirements
  • Master's Degree in Computer science or related technologies - Preferred
  • ⁠Strong understanding of automation architecture design patterns and frameworks for enterprise-scale applications (e.g., layered architecture, client-server, microservices, enterprise integration patterns)⁠.
  • Proven ability to build and execute automation strategies in alignment with business and technical objectives.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience working in the education, childcare, or services industry.
  • Mobile automation experience with tools like Appium, Espresso, or XCUITest for cross-platform and native app testing⁠ is plus.
  • Certifications in automation tools, DevOps, or cloud platforms.
  • Experience with quality lifecycle management and change management in large enterprise environments.
