As the Benefits & Compliance Manager, you'll be at the forefront of empowering our employees who inspire and train the next generation of problem-solvers. In this role, you will oversee daily benefit operations and collaborate closely with the HR OpEx Manager on benefits strategy, vendor management, compliance, and policy development. The Benefits & Compliance Manager will:
- Manage and enhance the administration and effectiveness of our comprehensive employee benefits programs, including health & welfare benefits, 401(k), leaves of absence, workers’ compensation, wellness initiatives, and additional benefits offerings.
- Oversee benefit election changes, demographic updates, and modifications affecting coverage and eligibility. Develop engaging policies and communication strategies to boost employee understanding and excitement about their benefits.
- Act as a subject matter expert, providing invaluable consultation to leadership and employees on HR-related inquiries, especially those complex issues related to benefits, accommodations, and leave management. Leads the communication of benefits and HR policy updates across the company.
- Direct the administration of employee accommodation requests and leave of absence cases, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations while providing strategic guidance on best practices to enhance employee experiences.
- Maintain the workers' compensation program and manage third-party relationships. Collaborate with the HR Director on process improvements, case management, claim review, audits, and risk mitigation. Serve as the main contact for high-risk and litigated cases, ensuring timely and compliant claims handling.
- Lead annual audits, including workers’ compensation and 401(k), and implement improvements to minimize risk while ensuring compliance and employee safety are top priorities.
- Execute and enhance high-impact HR events and communication campaigns, such as open enrollment and wellness initiatives, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and creating a positive employee experience.
- Conduct advanced data analytics and reporting using HRIS and Benefit Administration systems. Leverage data insights to implement strategic changes, optimize HR processes, and facilitate informed decision-making that drives success.
- Analyze employee and industry trends to recommend a competitive benefits package that truly stands out. Conduct annual reviews of the benefits package to ensure it meets market demands and exceeds expectations.
The ideal candidate has:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, HR Management, Finance, or a related field
- 5+ years of progressive benefits administration experience in a multi-state environment, preferably in the exciting fields of technology or education
- Certified Employee Benefits Specialist (CEBS) or Certified Benefits Professional (CBP) certification preferred
- A strong understanding of health benefits, retirement plans, leaves of absence, accommodations, workers' compensation, and wellness programs across the US, with experience in transitioning to self-funded plans a plus
- Knowledge of federal and state regulations affecting payroll and benefits programs, including ERISA, COBRA, FMLA, ADA, and others
- Dependability with a proven ability to drive change through strong interpersonal relationships; capable of working independently and collaboratively to achieve amazing results.
- Experience leading benefits system implementations and upgrades, ensuring alignment with business objectives; familiarity with Paycom preferred
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, with experience manipulating benefits data for insightful reporting
- Exemplary integrity, sound judgment, and confidentiality
