Business Assistant, Senior Full Description

Job Summary

The Senior Business Assistant, Account Management position in the School of Aeronautics and Astronautics and Materials Engineering will work collaboratively with departmental faculty, staff, students, and other business units or areas performing higher level business functions to support the fiscal management process for assigned financial unit. Responsibilities include account management, billing and cost center management, effort reporting or related functions. Assist with budget process and serve as a resource for specific functional areas. Exercise delegated signature approval for a variety of business transactions following delegation policies. May develop financial reports for financial planning forecasts or analyze project data for budget reviews. May serve as back up for the business manager as appropriate. Responsible for formal training and mentoring duties.

Education and Experience
Qualified candidates will need:

High school diploma / GED
4+ years of experience in customer service, as an account clerk, business, or other related field
Must have experience in providing a high level of customer service

Skills needed:

Demonstrated knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures and systems, file management and records, forms and other office procedures and terminology
Strong oral and written communication skills
Excellent customer service skills and professionalism in dealing with students, individuals, and business customers
Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to influence and build work relationships among a diverse workforce at all levels
Strong organizational and time management skills with emphasis on accuracy and attention to detail
Motivated individual with ability to efficiently multitask, work under pressure, handle interruptions and meet deadlines
Demonstrated ability to identify problems, analyze information and implement solutions
Capable of taking initiative, assuming responsibility and handling confidential information with discretion
Ability to work independently and in a dynamic team environment
Must possess a learning orientation to changing technology
Demonstrated proficiency in software experience: Microsoft Word, Excel, Database and Outlook/Electronic Email
Must be able to work with diverse personalities and backgrounds.
Demonstrated ability to problem solve and analyze complex issues
Ability to provide coaching and training to others
