Future Opportunities: Business Development Representative

Remote

We are building the sales team that will define the next phase of growth at Joyful Reading Company. Following a series of acquisitions and expansion of our product suite, we’re investing heavily in growing our go-to-market team, creating meaningful opportunities to take ownership, build, and grow with the business.

The ideal candidate will have 2 or more of the following:

  • Experience as a librarian or teacher
  • Experience using Beanstack
  • Experience working for a company with 25-100 employees
  • Experience in sales, customer-facing roles, or outbound prospecting (especially EdTech, LibraryTech, or SaaS)

The role: 

You will join a dynamic, fun, and growth-oriented sales team made up of Business Development Representatives (BDR) and Account Executives (AE). You will partner closely with one or more AE’s to execute a territory plan designed to generate pipeline and create new opportunities.

You will be responsible for identifying and engaging prospective schools and districts, building relationships with key stakeholders, and setting high-quality meetings that convert into revenue.

On a typical day you will be ...

  • Prospecting into new accounts through phone, email, and other creative outreach strategies (50%)
  • Supporting territory plan creation and researching K12 targets (20%)
  • Personalizing outreach and messaging based on territory, persona, and use case (15%)
  • Tracking all activity in Hubspot (5%).
  • Engaging in internal meetings with your team leader, the sales team, and occasional all company meetings. (10%).

Compensation:

We offer a competitive base salary, uncapped commission, and benefits. On-target commission may vary slightly based on territory or role. Leveling is determined based on experience and overall alignment with the role.

Associate Business Development Representative:
  • Base: $45-$55k
  • On-target commission: ~$15k-$20k
  • On-target earnings: $60-$75k+

Business Development Representative
  • Base: $55-$75k
  • On-target commission: ~$20-$30k
  • On-target earnings: $75-$105k+

Senior Business Development Representative
  • Base: $70-$90k
  • On-target commission: ~$30-$40k
  • On-target earnings: ~$100-$130k+
