Job Description:

Under supervision, supports the development and maintenance of business intelligence solutions to enable data-driven decision-making across the college. This is a growth-oriented position designed for a motivated analyst who will develop expertise in data warehouse environments, visualization tools, and college operations over time. The individual will begin by learning institutional data systems, building foundational reporting capabilities, and progressively take on more complex analytics responsibilities. This role requires strong SQL fundamentals and aptitude for learning new tools; the analyst should expect several months to learn data warehouse schemas and security models before becoming fully productive. While this role begins under direct supervision, it is designed as a structured path toward independent technical ownership as the analyst masters the college's data environment.

Position Salary Range: $57,900 - $65,000; Depending on experience

Essential Duties:

Data Repository Design, Development & Governance

  • Learn and develop proficiency in Amazon Redshift or similar cloud data warehouse platforms to support college analytical needs.

  • Write SQL queries to extract, integrate, and analyze data from student information systems, financial platforms, and compliance data sources; optimize queries over time as skills develop.

  • With supervisor direction and support the implementation of data governance standards, documentation practices, and quality controls.

  • Learn and progressively manage ELT workflows using Alteryx or similar data preparation tools, including cleaning, transforming, and structuring data.

  • Develop expertise in data definitions, lineage, and metadata to become a resource for college analytics systems over time.

Advanced Analytics & Emerging Technology

  • As proficiency develops, explore AI technologies, LLM-based tools, and emerging analytics platforms to enhance querying and analysis capabilities.

  • Use analytical and problem-solving skills to connect disparate data elements and identify relationships relevant to academic and operational outcomes.

  • Assist in the evaluation of emerging tools, machine learning applications and automation opportunities for potential adoption Over time, develop skills in statistical programming (Python, R) to support exploratory and predictive analysis.

Business Analysis & Data Synthesis

  • Develop understanding of the operational, academic, clinical, and financial structures of college programs through active engagement with stakeholders.

  • Learn to translate raw data into meaningful, contextualized insights that support leadership decisions and college initiatives.

  • Collaborate with faculty, administration, student services, academic operations, and financial teams to understand priorities and design data solutions.

  • Contribute recommendations for process improvement, resource allocation, and strategic planning based on data findings

Business Intelligence Reporting & Visualization

  • Build and maintain Tableau dashboards to communicate data with clarity; progressively take on more complex visualization projects.

  • Learn Report Builder (SSRS) for operational reporting and routine data delivery to stakeholders.

  • Support data visualizations and reporting for accreditation efforts, program review, workforce planning, and regulatory compliance.

  • Refine BI tools in response to end-user feedback and emerging information needs.

Predictive Modeling & Future-Focused Analytics (Future Growth)

As the analyst develops expertise, they will progressively take ownership of predictive modeling initiatives including:

  • NCLEX pass-rate prediction and trend analysis.

  • Academic Status Report forecasting, progression modeling, and early-warning student success analytics.

  • Program and course-level demand forecasting.

  • Total cost to educate, faculty workload optimization, and revenue/cost modeling.

  • Enrollment, retention, and graduation forecasting.

  • Clinical placement capacity modeling and operational resource planning.

Collaboration, Communication & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Work with supervisor and stakeholders to ensure alignment between technical solutions and strategic goals; grow into primary analytics liaison role over time.

  • Learn to navigate centralized data governance processes, including schema-level approvals through central security for student and financial data access.

  • Communicate analytical results, trends, and insights to leadership in a clear and accessible manner.

  • Assist stakeholders and end-users in interpreting dashboards and applying insights to decision-making; develop training capabilities over time.

  • Learn to work within secure AWS workspaces when handling sensitive or frequently changing data.

  • Build relationships across institutional analytics teams and contribute to shared data and BI best practices.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience with Tableau or similar data visualization platforms.

  • Exposure to cloud data warehouse platforms (Amazon Redshift, Snowflake, or similar).

  • Familiarity with ETL/ELT concepts or tools such as Alteryx.

  • Exposure to statistical programming languages (Python, R) or interest in developing these skills.

  • Experience in a higher education environment or familiarity with enrollment, student success, or institutional research functions.

  • Familiarity with healthcare education or accreditation processes.

  • Demonstrated curiosity for data and how information can be used to solve real problems.

  • Foundational SQL skills for data extraction and manipulation, with aptitude to develop advanced querying capabilities.

  • Basic familiarity with data visualization concepts; willingness and ability to learn Tableau and other enterprise platforms.

  • Foundational understanding of data management concepts and willingness to learn data warehouse environments.

  • Skill in quantitative data analysis and interpretation, including ability to identify trends and draw conclusions.

  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences.

  • Ability to learn complex systems, including data warehouse schemas, security models, and institutional processes.

  • Ability to work effectively with multiple stakeholders and manage competing priorities.

  • Self-motivated with strong initiative and willingness to take on new challenges.

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive data in accordance with institutional policies and FERPA requirements.

  • Ability to clearly communicate to perform essential functions.

  • Use of basic math and a calculator.

Working Environment:

  • Activities are performed in an environmentally controlled office setting subject to extended periods of sitting, keyboarding and manipulating a computer mouse.

  • Required to stand for varying lengths of time and walk (moderate) distances to perform work.
