About the Role
At ClassWallet, we are redefining how public funds reach the people who need them. We are seeking a Business Intelligence (BI) Tech Lead to serve as the primary architect and visionary of our data platform. This is a role for a proactive technical leader who views data as a foundational strategic asset, not just a series of reports.

Reporting to the Director of Architecture, you will own the critical intersection of data engineering and business insight, driving the continuous modernization and hardening of our data systems at every layer. Your work will ensure that our platform remains a source of truth, maintaining the highest levels of reliability and governance for our government partners. You will work as a high-impact leader to our engineering teams and collaborate closely with business stakeholders to align our overarching data strategy with deep, architectural implementation.

Requirements
The ideal candidate has deep experience with data and is someone who thrives in high-stakes environments, possessing a deeply proactive "engineer" mindset.
  • Leadership & Collaboration: Exceptional people leadership and communication skills, with the proven ability to influence engineering teams and partner with DevOps, Product and Architects to plan and execute complex replatforming activities. Candidates with a proven track record of architecting systems to meet rigorous compliance standards, specifically SOC2 Type 2 and GovRAMP are highly preferred.
  • Data Modeling & Governance: Deep understanding of data modeling, data governance, data reliability, and process hardening.
  • Cloud & Infrastructure: Expert-level proficiency in AWS environments and GitHub for version control and CI/CD integration.
  • Data Stack & BI Platform Mastery:
    • Warehousing: Deep expertise in data warehouse technologies like Snowflake and relational databases like MySQL.
    • NoSQL: Knowledge of MongoDB or similar document-style databases.
    • Orchestration: Hands-on experience with Airflow, Airbyte/Fivetran (or similar) for workflow management.
    • Data Cloud: experience with onboarding and maintaining Snowflake and core modules.
    • BI Platforms: AWS Quicksight, Sigma, Tableau
  • Ingestion & Sync: Proficiency with data synchronization tools and real-time data ingestion patterns to ensure constant data visibility.
  • Visualization: Advanced expertise in Sigma, Tableau and QuickSight to deliver actionable business insights.
  • Documentation: Proven ability to create and maintain stringent, audit-ready documentation and produce non-complex, scalable technical solutions.
  • CDP Management & Architecture: Own the technical implementation and maintenance of the CDP (e.g., Segment, MParticle, or a Composable CDP via Snowflake).
  • Dashboarding & Visualization: Create self-service reporting in tools like Tableau, Sigma, AWS Quicksight to help stakeholders and Product teams track the customer journey.
  • Data Pipeline Engineering: Design and maintain ETL/ELT pipelines that ingest first-party data from clients and third-party data from CRMs (Salesforce/HubSpot) and advertising platforms (Google/Meta Ads).
  • Create and Maintain Data & BI Environments: Own the end-to-end creation and ongoing maintenance of development, staging, QA and production migration environments.

Strategic Goals
Your success in this role will be defined by three key pillars:
  • Platform Modernization & Scalability: Transform the BI stack into a modern platform that prioritizes governance and security. You will implement non-complex solutions that scale, ensuring our infrastructure is robust from the ground up to anticipate emerging business needs.
  • Democratization & Business Partnership: Transform BI from a service provider into a continuous, architectural partner. You will work closely with business stakeholders to become the resident expert on our data, enabling the platform to be the primary driver of informed business decisions and democratizing data across the organization.
  • Data Reliability as a Gold Standard: Position ClassWallet’s data integrity as a market differentiator. By maintaining an impeccable, hardened data environment, you enable the business to confidently pursue the most sensitive government contracts, knowing our data platform is the gold standard for transparency and control.

Benefits
ClassWallet is a positive, family-oriented team environment. Our focus is on encouragement, positive reinforcement, and gratitude. We work hard and are highly motivated to win but with a healthy perspective on life.
We offer an excellent salary and benefits commensurate with experience.
