Posting Context Statement | The Business Specialist III provides post-award financial and compliance support for the Innovative Agriculture and Marketing Partnership (IAMP) within the College of Agricultural and Life Sciences, in coordination with the Administrative Research Collaborative (ARC) in the Office of Research and Economic Development. IAMP supports collaborative agricultural research and marketing initiatives across Idaho, working with producers, commodity groups, agribusiness partners, and external collaborators. This position ensures sound financial stewardship of sponsored projects, delivers high-quality service to faculty and partners, and supports compliance oversight with federal regulations, sponsor requirements, and University of Idaho policies.
Position Overview | Responsible for providing complex technical support for daily financial operations by performing a variety of tasks following policies and procedures. In addition to processing a variety of financial transactions and maintaining records, the position compiles data and generates routine and ad hoc financial reports.
Duties may include: Purchasing identified goods and services Submitting invoices and receipts for payment Accepting and recording payments Reconciling purchasing card statements Processing travel claims and reimbursements Tracking transactions through completion in the centralized financial system Filing and maintaining unit-level finance documents Originating personnel actions and processing corrections to pay in the centralized financial system Developing, compiling, and summarizing data for routine reports and ad hoc financial management reports Researching and correcting discrepancies or errors Providing assistance to departments on questions related to invoices, receipts, financial reports and other transactions Researching, analyzing, and making recommendations for management decision making Other duties as assigned

Required Experience | Three years providing financial processing support within an electronic finance system Using spreadsheet software to compile, summarize, analyze, and report on financial data Interpreting and applying financial stewardship policies, procedures, rules and regulations
Required Education | High School Diploma or equivalent
Required Other | None
Additional Preferred | Bachelor’s degree in a related field and/or four years of administrative or financial experience. Knowledge of accounting principles and financial reconciliation practices, including experience working within enterprise financial systems such as Banner or similar platforms. Experience developing and managing budgets and monitoring balances. Knowledge of University of Idaho policies and procedures Knowledge of 2 CFR 200 and regulations governing sponsored projects. Experience working with faculty, staff, students, or external stakeholders in a research or agricultural setting.
