Job Summary
The Business Analyst II in the Office of Information Technology (OIT) provides procedural guidance, and one or more of the following: process improvement recommendations, business requirements planning, system configuration management, systems implementation and delivery, service management, application testing, quality control, project management, and advanced reporting to user departments for specific application software used by departments. The Business Analyst II will also perform advanced analysis of exception conditions, error processing, workflow efficiencies, for multiple software applications used by departments that they support.
Please note that this is not a business analytics position.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Work with associated business areas to resolve exceptions preventing normal business operations as they relate to software applications and business procedures.
  • Perform advanced problem/root cause analysis of business processes, work- flow processes, and advanced troubleshooting for user departments.
  • Develop business process documentation and configuration guides.
  • Work with specialized software specific to OIT area of responsibility to provide data input for analysis and reporting.
  • Train/Mentor less experienced business analysts with business process designs, testing, quality control and reporting requests from users.
  • Act as a liaison on behalf of the Office of Information (OIT) and departments for technology related communications and meetings with technical staff/vendors as needed.
  • Identify and develop practices and business processes as requested by business areas.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Job Specific Duties are:
  • Lead end-to-end business analysis for Perceptive Content and ServiceNow, including stakeholder discovery, requirements definition, workflow design, access review, and evaluation of automation and integration opportunities to deliver secure, auditable, and sustainable solutions aligned with SDLC practices.
  • Produce and maintain clear documentation and coordinate solution delivery with developers, platform administrators, and functional stakeholders to ensure implemented workflows meet approved requirements and are supportable in production.
  • Work with campus partners to establish relationships, streamline processes, and improve workflows.
  • Please note that this is not a business analytics position.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Business Administration, Math, Economics, or equivalent experience.
  • Three (3) years of experience or seven (7) years of any combination of education, experience or training.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Four (4) years’ experience or eight (8) years of any combination of equivalent education, experience, or training.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Experience working with a combination of software related to PeopleSoft Software Applications: Admissions, Student Records, Financial Aid, Student Financials, Advising, Enrollment, HR, Finance, Grants, GL, Commitment Control, Purchasing, CRM, and Data Warehousing software.
  • Comfortable using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Visio, etc.).
  • Exposure to various enterprise software solutions.
  • Excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and documentation skills would be most helpful for this position.
  • Minimal experience working with business users, and technical staff to complete projects, change requests, identifying and analyzing business process models for departments, documenting current/to-be business processes.
  • Knowledge of Waterfall and Agile Scrum Methodology for projects
