Scope of Job  | Provide support to students/alumni in self-evaluation related to career options, development of professional job search skills and securing employment. Develop strategies to reach every UTRGV student with high quality career education through delivering multi-modal career education initiatives. Strategically develop and scale opportunities and programs which empower all students to identify career paths, secure internships and/or co-ops, and ultimately find career success upon graduation.

Description of Duties  | Develops and delivers programming, training, career development/classroom presentations, career initiatives/events, and advising models which support students in identifying career pathways, co-op, internships, and post-graduation career opportunities. Creates career education content that is relevant and deliverable in various presentation settings. Assists students with professional development by conducting resume/cover letter critiques and job-search strategies, school or job-related application procedures. Provides specialized individual and group career and job search services to students and alumni. Helps to cultivate a campus community that prepares all students for their future. Develops initiatives to scale and integrate career development into the fabric of UTRGV schools and colleges; supports office wide efforts in creating and activating a robust career ecosystem serving all students from all colleges and majors. Collaborates with other Career Center personnel to host recruitment events and activities, including career fairs, information sessions, and employer on and off campus visits. Builds relationships with campus stakeholders and expand engagement with key departments on campus, such as academic advising, pre-professional advising, athletics, student life, and other constituents. Meets 1:1 with students in drop-in advising or appointments for career exploration and job/internship search strategy and provide career and job search related advising in group settings to students and alumni. Supports employer connections efforts to connect academic units, offices, and students with relevant opportunities. Supports the efforts to develop a cutting-edge Student Peer Advising Program which will serve as the front line of serving UTRGV students; supervises and trains Student Peers as assigned. Trains and mentors other staff within the department. Leverages data to inform and assess career education activities and tracks data and outcomes in relevant databases and platforms. Maintains knowledge of all departmental programs and activities in order to market and promote to students, staff, faculty and employers. Works with the International Student Office and employers concerning the recruitment and hiring of international students. Participates in student, parent and faculty orientation sessions as needed. Develops and markets resources available in the Career Center. Facilitates placement of students in positions related to their academic major. Participates in area, state and national business associations and chambers of commerce activities with emphasis on employer development. Performs other duties as assigned.
