Posting Title: Career Coach & Student Experience Manager Overview:
Provide individual career coaching for undergraduate and select graduate students, focusing on resume writing, cover letter edits, interview preparation, job search strategy, discovering vocations, career exploration, and salary negotiation. Through classroom and virtual workshops, individualized mentorship, building relationships with students, tracking and reporting student internship and job placement information, the Career Coach plays an integral role to the development of the Busch School student. The Career Coach is also a key contributor to the University by serving the student population in a personalized, hands-on fashion with special events designed for their education and enjoyment.
As student experience manager, this coach is responsible for organizing events, initiatives, clubs, and/or programs to enhance the day-to-day Busch School student experience and retention of Busch School students. The student experience manager is asked to collaborate with various cross-campus partners (Office of Campus Activities, Campus Ministry, Office of Events and Conferences, University Career and Academic Advising) to facilitate such Busch School student experiences and special events.
The projected salary or hourly pay range for this position which represents the full range of anticipated compensation is: $65,000- $75,000.
Responsibilities:
- Individually and in small groups, advise undergraduate and select graduate students in career options, focusing on resume writing, cover letter edits, networking, interview preparation, job search strategy, discovering vocations, career exploration and salary negotiation.
- Plan and execute special events to enhance the student experience in the Busch School.
- Liaise with the University Office of Events and Conferences to plan and execute student-facing events.
- Liaise with the Office of Campus Activities for activities and clubs related to the Busch School.
- Advise the dean’s office on career readiness, and guest lecture in various classes as needed.
- Work with the Dean's Office on the coordination of major student events, including the Busch Banquet and Graduation.
- Oversee the Busch Mentor Program to include recruitment, matching, training, and events relating to mentors/mentees.
- Train, educate, and assist with the interns for the Career Development Team, including student Career Peer Advisors.
- Collaborate with the offices of Academic Services for joint-office programming and student advising to ensure holistic services to the student body.
- Provide career coaching, career preparation workshops on key skills and values needed in the workplace, and assist students in navigating the workplace.
- Collect undergraduate student internship and engagement data and maintain a database to track student progress.
- Report monthly to Career Development Team on student interactions in coaching meetings, workshops, learning outcomes, and internship and job placement statistics gathered from meetings and in the classroom.
- Assist with analysis of student placement statistics to identify employment trends.
- Contribute to the ongoing maintenance, organization, and record-keeping in the Career Development database, Monday.com. Includes both employer contacts and student coaching notes.
- Partner and present at undergraduate Busch School student organization meetings to provide specialized programming and mentorship to fit organization needs.
- Facilitate tailored Busch School workshops to prepare students for networking, internships, externships, guided apprenticeships, and employment.
- Communicate daily with Employer Relations team to recommend students for opportunities and guide strategy for employer outreach based on student needs.
- Meet with all Busch School students seeking internships and jobs and assist in advising on courses to support their desired career paths.
- Collaborate frequently with faculty to improve the referral process, prep students in the classroom, and to gather internship and job placement information.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree
- Counseling and Coaching experience, in a Business School or higher education environment preferred. (Human resources or recruiting experience is also helpful.)
- Resume and cover letter editing experience preferred.
- Interviewing skills necessary. Formal networking experience and coaching.
- Experience corresponding with high level professionals
- Administrative experience
- Teaching experience preferred.
- Higher education experience is a plus.
- G Suite and or Microsoft Office, Career Services Platforms, LinkedIn proficiency, and appointment scheduling antracking.
