Career Services Assistant Full Description

Overview: 
The Career Services Assistant provides front-line support in the CARE (Careers, Advocacy, Resources, and Engagement) Center, serving students, employers, and alumni with a primary focus on career services. This position is responsible for delivering career development programming, fostering employer engagement, and working with the CARE Center Team and community partners to advance student success. Other responsibilities include scheduling events/appointments, event planning, and addressing student inquiries, while actively supporting the CARE Center’s mission to deliver exceptional career services and engagement opportunties. Position is funded through SAFAC funding.
 
This position will be open until filled, with a first review date of February 9, 2026. After this date, the recruitment may close without further notice. Interested applicants are encouraged to apply as soon as possible.

Responsibilities: 
Student Support
  • Serve as the first point of contact for students and alumni seeking career guidance, internship opportunities, and job search support. 
  • Deliver individual and group coaching sessions for resume reviews, mock interviews, career exploration, and job search assistance. 
  • Develop and coordinate workshops and events focused on career readiness, professional skills, and employment trends, and assist with overseeing the Certificate of Professional Development. 
  • Support Non-Traditional Occupation (NTO) students and other priority populations through targeted career development programming and individual appointments. 
  • Provide technical assistance for CARE Center software and tools including Vector Solutions, Headspace, Handshake, and other applications.
  • Utilize campus systems (Banner, Early Alert System, Blackboard) to identify high priority student groups and provide support in the form of career services and other CARE Team services.
  • Track and report on student engagement metrics to inform program improvements and impact.
Employer & Community Engagement
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for employers, providing technical support and guidance for Handshake.
  • Maintain job boards on campus and communicate position openings to appropriate staff and instructors.
  • Expand and maintain the database of employer contacts, fostering partnerships and responding to employer requests. 
  • Assist in coordinating with community partners to bring resources and programming to campus, scheduling their presence, and ensuring CARE Center coverage at events. 
 
CARE Center Operations & Programming
  • Support the CARE Center’s mission and initiatives, including the Student Cupboard, Career Closet, data entry, and other student success activities and programs.
  • Assist with scheduling of student appointments with CARE Center staff, including outreach to early alert referrals for the purpose of scheduling an appointment.
  • Assist with event planning and coordination of CARE Center programs.
  • Provide guidance and training to CARE Center student workers.
 Administrative & Grant Support
  • Assist with grant administration, including tracking deliverables, client reporting, purchasing, and check requests.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential records of students receiving emergency financial assistance.
 
Qualifications:

Education & Experience:
  1. Associate Degree in Business, Education or a related field or an equivalent combination of education and work experience. 
  2. Two years of experience in student services and/or a career services-related position.
