Job Summary
The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry invites applications for Teaching Assistants (TAs) for the Fall 2026 semester. There are openings for assisting CHEM 101 lab sections. Applicants must be pursuing an interest in the sciences in order to be considered (pursuing a major in chemistry or biochemistry is preferred, but not required).

Chemistry & Biochemistry TAs will get the opportunity to develop their understanding of the materials at hand, gain further knowledge of topics that they previously learned, develop a professional relationship with new students, and develop their skills as educators.
Responsibilities
5-8 hour/week commitment.

Responsibilities include:
· Prior knowledge and reasonable mastery of CHEM 101 material;
· Availability to attend TA meetings taking place once weekly;
· Grading laboratory assignments in a timely manner;
· Assisting students in lab with relevant techniques and processes.
· With the agreement of TAs and instructors, additional paid hours may be available for tutoring sessions outside of lab periods, to assist students with preparation of lab reports, other lab assignments, and review of lab-related concepts.
Qualifications
You must be an enrolled student at Oberlin College & Conservatory to qualify. In order to be considered, applicants must have earned a passing grade in CHEM 101, CHEM 103 or CHEM 102 (if taken this course after the placement test).

Compensation
