POSITION SPECIFICS
The Black School of Business at Penn State Behrend is accepting applications for a co-curricular programs and outreach coordinator to lead the school's student outreach and engagement initiatives. This position oversees cocurricular programs, supports marketing and communication efforts, manages the career readiness program, coordinates outreach activities, and provides administrative support as a working member of several committees. The role is central to creating a vibrant student experience, supporting student organizations, and promoting the school through events and strategic communications.

RESPONSBILITIES
Student Recruitment & Outreach
  • Coordinate and represent the school at recruitment events (Open Houses, Preview Days, Spend a Summer Day/Night, Adult Open House, Business Days, etc.).
  • Plan outreach events (M&M Debate, FBLA, K-12 campus visits) in partnership with the Outreach Committee, BSCH Ambassadors, and the graduate assistant.
  • Supervise the graduate assistant supporting recruitment and outreach efforts, including delegating tasks, providing guidance, and evaluating performance.
  • Create and update promotional materials and academic major newsletters; collaborate with Strategic Communications on publications.
Co-Curricular Programs & Student Engagement
  • Coordinate co-curricular programs that support student engagement and career readiness, including events and communications related to the Black School of Business Career Readiness Program.
  • Supervise part-time staff and student workers to ensure alignment of efforts
  • Evaluate outcomes of co-curricular programs and recommend improvements to increase participation and visibility.
  • Organize and administer Black School of Business social events, business trips, and conferences (e.g., spring banquet, spring student trip, winter social event, ERIE Conference).
  • Collaborate with faculty and students to plan and promote Major Days and other engagement activities.
  • Oversee 12 student clubs and organizations: assist with programming, facilitate meetings, manage joint programming, and gather documentation for AACSB accreditation.
  • Administer Beta Gamma Sigma honor society inductions and ceremonies.
  • Act as liaison to Student Leadership & Involvement and Career Services.
  • Support data collection efforts related to post-graduation outcomes, including internship and placement surveys required for AACSB reporting.
  • Support information gathering and documentation related to the Executives in Residence program.
Marketing & Communication
  • Maintain and update social media accounts (Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram) and promote programs through multiple channels (email, posters, Slack).
  • Determine improved methods of communication with students and evaluate marketing effectiveness.
  • Prepare School News and Updates materials (once a year, distinct from the Business Magazine by the Strategic Communications) for distribution to AACSB-accredited business schools to support US News rankings, advisory board members, and admitted students; maintain and update contact information for these business schools.
Administrative & Committee Support
  • Provide support for the Learning Innovations Committee, Outreach Committee, and the Advisory Board's Professional Development and Societal Impact Committees.
  • Assist with faculty and student award nominations and coordinate with the Chancellor's Office for honors convocation.
  • Provide general administrative support: answer phones, assist students and faculty, manage room reservations, update display cases, and handle ad hoc requests.
  • Maintain and update the BSCH faculty handbook
  • Hire and supervise student workers for general office and faculty support.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Ability to plan and coordinate events and activities.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills for engaging diverse audiences.
  • Experience with social media and basic promotional or marketing content.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Proficiency with common office software (e.g., Microsoft Office/365).
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and a service‑oriented approach.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
