Description | Reporting to the Director of Strategic Communication for Student Enrollment, Engagement, and Success, the Communications Assistant supports the planning, creation, and management of electronic marketing campaigns. The role requires strong command of the English language, including grammar, composition, and usage, as well as the ability to manage administrative responsibilities in compliance with Hofstra University, Colonial Athletic Conference, and NCAA regulations. The ideal candidate brings a blend of creative and technical skills, collaborates with cross-functional teams, and contributes to advancing the University’s communication goals.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Develops, writes, and edits email content for various communications. Monitors email analytics to assess the success of campaigns and make data-driven improvements. Collaborates with the Director of Strategic Communications and the Assistant Director of Communication to create and execute a comprehensive communication plan that aligns with the division’s goals and priorities. Coordinates with various departments to ensure that communication initiatives are consistent and strategically aligned. Supports in promoting university events, including lectures, workshops, and special programs, through effective communication strategies. Collaborates with event organizers to create promotional materials and coordinate email campaigns. Ensures that all content adheres to the university’s brand guidelines and messaging. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications | Bachelor’s degree required. Minimum 0-1 years of related experience. Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple tasks. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including grammar, composition, and ability to adapt tone and language for different media and audiences. Creative mindset with an eye for design to ensure communications are visually appealing and on-brand. Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications | Experience with CMS systems, such as Slate preferred. Familiarity with HTML/CSS for email template customization is a plus.

Salary/Salary Range | $45,900

Hofstra University provides the above salary* as a good faith estimate of the starting pay range which considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience and education.
