The Student Success Innovations (SSI) team in the Office of the University Provost supports this mission by ensuring students have a supportive, connected experience that helps them achieve their academic and personal goals. Effective communication is a key part of that support, and the skills of a Communications Coordinator are essential to delivering the right messages at the right time so students can access the resources they need to succeed.
The SSI team is seeking a collaborative, detail-oriented communications professional to help design and deliver timely, relevant, and effective outreach to ASU students through emerging technologies, including AI chatbots and automated systems. The Communications Coordinator will work collaboratively with partners across the university to ensure consistent, student-centered messaging and will play a central role in executing creative campaigns, monitoring engagement, and using data to inform strategy. This position will provide technical expertise in creating, scheduling, and measuring campaigns; managing multiple projects in coordination with team leads; and compiling results for sharing with stakeholders, aligned with established goals.

Essential Duties:
  • Maintain and update a communications calendar to ensure the timely delivery of all outreach initiatives.
  • Track project deliverables, deadlines, and approvals, proactively identifying and addressing potential delays.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between the communications team and stakeholders, ensuring requests are clearly documented, prioritized, and executed.
  • Support cross-functional collaboration by coordinating meetings, sharing updates, and documenting project decisions.
  • Assist in building, testing, and launching communication campaigns across multiple channels, including email, text, and digital platforms.
  • Prepare and edit campaign assets, including templates, copy, and visual content, ensuring consistency with brand guidelines and accessibility standards.
  • Coordinate with designers, writers, and stakeholders to review and finalize campaign materials.
  • Gather, monitor and analyze campaign performance metrics to assess effectiveness and student engagement.
  • Translate data into clear reports and stakeholder updates, providing leadership and partner units with timely insights.
  • Identify trends and continuously recommend strategies to improve and optimize outreach efforts.
  • Create lists through Constituent Relationship Management (CRM) systems and dashboard queries; manipulate files for segmented campaigns; and ensure accurate uploading or field mapping.
  • Ensure the quality and accuracy of campaigns by critically evaluating/verifying large contact lists, thoroughly testing and proofreading campaigns, and complying with industry best practices for direct email and text messaging to maintain ASU's sending reputation.
  • Respond to student inquiries received through email and text messaging platforms, providing accurate information or routing to the appropriate department as needed.
  • May include supervising and mentoring a part-time student employee to support campaign execution and administrative tasks.

  • Experience with campaign management platforms (e.g., Airtable, Salesforce Marketing Cloud, or similar).
  • Familiarity with data visualization and reporting tools to enhance stakeholder updates.
  • Experience working in higher education or student-focused communications.
  • Experience supervising or mentoring student workers or interns.
 
Working Environment:
Activities are performed in an environmentally controlled office setting, subject to extended periods of sitting, keyboarding and manipulating a computer mouse; required to stand for varying lengths of time and walk moderate distances to perform work. Occasional bending, reaching, lifting, pushing and pulling up to 25 pounds. Regular activities require the ability to quickly change priorities, which may include and/or are subject to the resolution of conflicts. Ability to clearly communicate verbally, read, write, see and hear to perform essential functions. Regular use of standard office equipment, including, but not limited to: computer workstation/laptop (keyboard, monitor, mouse), printer, telephone and associated computer/technology peripherals.
