Job Description:

Salary Range: $59,000 - $63,000 DOE

The Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication at Arizona State University seeks a marketing-minded media creator to advance the school's recruitment and engagement goals through strong strategic communication. Working as part of a team of communications professionals, the specialist will work collaboratively across the school and with university partners to promote the school's community, achievements and brand through creative storytelling and strategic organic social content. This position serves as the school's lead social media storyteller, community manager and multimedia creator.

The successful candidate will be an audience-first social- and multimedia storyteller with skills befitting the nation's leading journalism and mass communications school. They will proactively mine stories from the Cronkite community, efficiently create compelling visual media, engage the school's digital audiences and creatively respond to performance metrics.

This is a full-time, benefits-eligible position performed at the school's Downtown Phoenix campus.

Essential Duties:

  • Write and edit copy for websites, email, print pieces and more on deadline
  • Serve as the communications team's AP Style champion 
  • Perform daily website updates
  • Manage an editorial content calendar
  • Proactively engage with school stakeholders and community members to mine and tell effective stories in pursuit of school recruitment and engagement goals
  • Lead email production, performance analysis and optimization using SalesForce Marketing Cloud
  • Coordinate visual media with team members
  • Serve as liaison to related central university communications teams
  • Measure and report on digital content performance
  • Other duties as assigned

Desired Qualifications:

  • A strong portfolio of written strategic communication work
  • Strong editing skills and AP Style knowledge
  • Experience creating or producing digital content and/or campaigns at a professional content organization or agency
  • Experience using a CMS to manage content
  • Experience creating and managing an editorial content calendar
  • Demonstrated experience in project management and team management using a project management system (e.g. Asana, Monday.com, Basecamp)
  • Experience using SalesForce Marketing Cloud to produce and optimize email campaigns
  • Demonstrated experience using performance data to pivot content
  • Experience using content and/or campaigns to advance higher education admissions goals

Working Environment:

  • This position requires work in person at the Cronkite School of ASU's Downtown Phoenix Campus
  • Activities are performed in an environmentally controlled office setting subject to extended periods of sitting, keyboarding and manipulating a computer mouse
  • Travel with participants to provide support for operations of the program
  • Required to stand for varying lengths of time
  • Regular activities require ability to quickly change priorities, which may include and/or are subject to resolution of conflicts
  • Communicate professionally to perform essential duties
  • Ability to lift 25 pounds
