Recreation and Wellbeing (RecWell) at the University of Idaho provides programs, services, facilities and equipment to enrich the university learning experience. Our department provides recreation and wellbeing activities for our students, faculty, staff, and the community. Our programs are housed in the Student Recreation Center and include Fitness, Intramural Sports, Outdoor Programs, Sport Clubs, the Vandal Spirit Squad and Vandal Health Education.
Position Overview The position ensures effective internal and external communication, branding and messaging by leading and collaborating on communication efforts within the unit and across campus. This position advances the reputation of the University of Idaho and assigned unit(s) through purposeful and creative messaging that is tied to strategic initiatives and builds campus wide and public understanding and support for the teaching and research mission of the unit(s) specifically, as well as the University of Idaho in general. The position will work in a collaborative environment with team members and University Communications and Marketing to create impactful communications.
Duties may include: Write and edit a variety of content in digital and print formats Maintain the project or effort website, social media presence and online communications; collaborate on data collection for a variety of reports May assist with day-to-day office operations Provide consultation and writing support to department leadership Other duties as assigned

Required Experience | One year of communications, marketing, graphic design, journalism, or public relations experience Editing and writing business correspondence using proper grammar and punctuation as demonstrated in application materials Working in customer service-oriented team environment to accomplish shared goals Handling a variety of projects simultaneously that requires attention to details
Required Education | Associate’s Degree in Communications, Journalism or Public Relations; two additional years of experience (for a total of three years) may substitute for a Associate’s Degree
Required Other | Ability to work nonstandard business hours and occasionally weekends
Additional Preferred | Experience using a content management system for publishing web content Experience developing, executing, and measuring impact of communications plans and initiatives to achieve organizational goals Ability to collaborate and exhibit interpersonal and communication skills with internal and external constituents Applying the AP style to business documents Experience working in higher education Experience creating marketing materials
