Residency Requirements:  Must reside in Washington, DC, Virginia, or Maryland
The Community Engagement Specialist provides a range of school-wide services to new and returning students and their families to help set the right tone for their academic success in the virtual school program. The position works with all student support roles including learning coach programming and serves in various groups to provide critical training, facilitate academic engagement, and promote effective communication practices between parents, teachers and support staff.

  • Leadership & Vision
    •    Develop and communicate the academy’s blended learning vision.
    •    Stay current on emerging models, technologies, and research to keep Friendship’s blended learning program innovative.
  • Teacher Coaching & Support
    •    Provide regular coaching and professional development for blended learning staff.
    •    Model effective blended learning strategies during trainings.
  • Curriculum & Instructional Alignment
    •    Monitor platform data to identify instructional trends and areas for growth.
  • Student & Family Engagement
    •    Train staff on using digital tools effectively and responsibly.
    •    Partner with families to provide onboarding, resources, and ongoing communication about blended learning expectations.
    •    Ensure equity by addressing barriers to access, including technology and digital literacy gaps.
  • Operational & Technical Support
    •    Serve as the point of contact for blended learning platforms and tools.
    •    Partner with the efficiency department to resolve technical issues that affect instruction.
    •    Contribute to scheduling structures that balance live teaching, small group instruction, and independent digital learning.
  • Accountability & Reporting
    •    Track, analyze, and report on student achievement and engagement with blended learning tools.
    •    Establish metrics to measure the effectiveness of blended learning initiatives.
    •    Create feedback loops with staff, students, and families to drive continuous improvement.

MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: 
  • Bachelor's degree in education, Counseling, Human Services or related field of study AND
  • Two (2) years of experience work with families in a similar capacity, developing parent mentors/Learning Coaches, and/or facilitating community involvement OR
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Ability to clear required background check.

OTHER REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:  
  • Familiarity with online learning environment;
  • Strong organizations and time management skills;
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills;
  • Strong instructional background with proven success in integrating technology into teaching and learning.
  • Ability to coach and support adult learners.
  • Skilled in data analysis and the use of educational technology platforms.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
  • Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visit, etc.); Web proficiency;
  • Ability to travel 25% of the time 
  • Three (3) years of experience working with families in a similar capacity, developing parent mentors/parent training, and/or facilitating community involvement

Compensation and benefits Stride, Inc. considers a person’s education, experience, and qualifications, as well as the position’s work location, expected quality and quantity of work, required travel (if any), external market and internal value when determining a new employee’s salary level.  Salaries will differ based on these factors, the position’s level and expected contribution, and the employee’s benefits elections.  Offers will typically be in the bottom half of the range.
