The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill is hiring a Computer Support Specialist. The role involves assisting IT staff in the Hussman School of Journalism and Media by supporting the technology needs of faculty, staff, and students, including classroom support, hardware setup, troubleshooting, and software assistance while contributing to IT projects and community training.
Highlights
Provide computer and technology support to faculty, staff, and students at the Hussman School of Journalism and Media.
Support classroom technology, PC/Mac/printer troubleshooting, and new computer setups.
Assist with software including Active Directory, Adobe Creative Cloud, web browsers, Jamf, Microsoft Office, Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager, and Zoom.
Contribute to short- and long-term IT projects and conduct training and outreach within the UNC Hussman community.
Requires graduation from high school and at least one year of technology-related experience or equivalent education.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, ability to work on a team, professionalism, and initiative are essential.
Computer-related certifications preferred but not required.
Part-time temporary position (30 hours/week) with a pay range of $18.00 - $22.00 per hour.
The appointment is expected to last approximately 6 to 11 months starting October 6, 2025.
