Montana State University is hiring a Computer Support Specialist II. This role supports the College of Agriculture and Montana Agricultural Experiment Station by delivering IT services, troubleshooting devices and software, managing technology resources, and collaborating with faculty, staff, and researchers statewide to ensure effective technology use and security.
Highlights
Provide in-person, phone, and email technical support for faculty and staff across the College of Agriculture statewide.
Troubleshoot and resolve issues with desktop/laptop systems, peripherals, mobile devices, software, operating systems, and network connectivity.
Manage endpoint security, hardware, and incident tracking using centralized IT tools and adhere to UIT policies.
Collaborate with IT teams and contribute to technical projects and technology evaluation and implementation.
Travel to research centers as needed for on-site equipment installation and troubleshooting.
Required skills include experience with Windows and macOS environments, endpoint/device management tools (e.g., Intune, JAMF, MCM, Active Directory), IT security principles, and help desk support processes.
Salary ranges from $23.00 to $24.50 per hour based on experience, education, and qualifications.
Minimum qualifications include two years of relevant education or progressively responsible experience in IT support or an equivalent combination.
Preferred qualifications include a bachelor's degree in computer science or related field, certifications, and skills in independent research, computer repair, and support for remote locations.
Position requires valid driver’s license and the ability to travel statewide; not eligible for sponsorship.
