POSITION SPECIFICSâ
The Pennsylvania State University Libraries' Public Relations and Marketing team seeks a creative Content and Communications Specialist to drive and deliver dynamic social media and digital video content initiatives.
As part of the Public Relations and Marketing team, the Content and Communications Specialist will help shape and share the University Libraries' brand through on-trend multimedia storytelling that engages students and highlights the Libraries' impact as one of the nation's top public academic research libraries.
Key Responsibilities
Execute social media strategies that connect students with the Libraries' services, collections, programs, and people.
Create and produce engaging digital content â short videos, photography, and related motion-driven imagery â for social platforms and campaigns and embedded storytelling videos.
Collaborate with others on storytelling, promotional efforts, and event marketing to elevate the student experience and showcase research opportunities and achievements.
Work closely with team members and develop and maintain a robust, active network of strategic partners across all Penn State library locations, colleges, and campuses to develop ideas, gather input, prioritize impactful stories, and meet deadlines.
Manage all aspects of multimedia production: planning, shooting, editing, and post-production.
Track campaign performance using analytics and report on engagement metrics.
Write and edit content for social media, scripts, and occasional feature articles and news releases.
Develop and implement content supporting communications strategies that promote the Libraries as the heart of the University, highlighting spaces, services, and programming that foster belonging and academic success.
Create campaigns that raise awareness of the Libraries as a partner in education, research, and student engagement, emphasizing intellectual freedom, lifelong learning, and collaboration.
Ensure compliance with University branding and editorial/visual standards.
Qualifications
Expertise in current social media and short video trends and platforms (e.g., Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, YouTube)
Proven success in setting and achieving communications and engagement goals using analytics
Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 and expertise using Adobe Creative Suite, especially Premiere Pro, Photoshop, Express
Excellent video and photography skills, including audio, lighting, and editing for student-centered content
Ability to create audience-specific messaging and thrive in fast-paced, collaborative environments
Inclusive and respectful when working with others
Outstanding work ethic with ability to meet deadlines
Dedication to continuous learning and staying current with multimedia storytelling and marketing trends
Knowledge of collaborative project management tools, especially Asana, is preferred.

SALARY & BENEFITS
The salary range for this position, including all possible grades, is $46,400.00 - $67,300.00.
