Location: Mount Laurel, NJ (Hybrid)
About Foundations
Foundations, Inc. is a national nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the quality of education for our nation's children by strengthening the skills of educators. For more than 30 years, we have partnered with schools, districts, and out-of-school time (OST) programs to expand high-quality learning opportunities, especially in under-resourced communities. We are recognized nationally for our professional learning, leadership development, evaluation, and convenings that help educators and organizations thrive.
Our Office of Professional Learning (OPL) supports OST programs nationwide through professional learning, resources, and technical assistance that empower educators and program leaders to better serve students.
The Role
We are seeking a Content Development Specialist to create, edit, and polish high-quality materials that support professional learning, technical assistance, and capacity-building projects. This role is ideal for someone with education experience and strong writing and design skills who can transform ideas and subject matter expertise into engaging, accessible, and visually compelling resources. The specialist will work across multiple projects and collaborate closely with Education Specialists, Directors, and the Executive Director, increasing the team's overall capacity to deliver strong content to partners.
What You Will Do
- Develop and write presentations, facilitator guides, handouts, and other professional learning resources in collaboration with project teams.
- Draft, edit, and refine written materials such as toolkits, reports, templates, and implementation guides for capacity building.
- Translate complex ideas and program goals into clear, compelling, and accessible written content.
- Support digital content needs for websites, webinars, and online platforms.
- Work across multiple projects, partnering with Education Specialists and leadership to meet content and writing needs.
What We Are Looking For
- 2–3 years of experience in education, OST, instructional design, or a related field.
- Exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading skills, with the ability to convey complex ideas clearly and engagingly for diverse audiences.
- Strong understanding of pedagogy and adult learning principles.
- Demonstrated experience creating learning materials and written resources for educators or program staff.
- Tech-savvy with presentation and design tools (PowerPoint, Canva, Adobe) and comfort with webinar, website, and LMS platforms.
A Week in the Life
On Monday, you may draft slides or edit a toolkit from home. Tuesday and Wednesday, you will be in the office with teammates — reviewing drafts together, brainstorming new resources, and incorporating feedback. Later in the week, you might refine graphics, prepare materials for a webinar, copy edit a brief, and finalize content for posting online. Each week blends focused independent work with collaborative sessions to produce resources that strengthen programs and educators.
Why Foundations?
At Foundations, you will join a mission-driven team working to expand high-quality learning opportunities for children nationwide. This new role was created to increase the capacity of our Office of Professional Learning, allowing our Education Specialists and leaders to deepen their partnerships while you ensure that the content behind those partnerships is polished, engaging, and impactful.
