The Content Strategist works collaboratively with product management stakeholders to develop, hone, and execute high level, multi-year, compelling overall strategies, inclusive of using analytics and market intelligence to inform this strategy. The Content Strategist creates content strategy by understanding the audience, analyzing the market and competitive trends, developing hypotheses, collaborating with cross-functional teams to test ideas in the market, analyzing data, and ultimately making content decisions based on these insights and evidence. The Content Strategist leads product conversion and release, collaborating with team members to ensure on-time delivery of high-quality content.
This particular role will support content strategy, inclusive of eBooks, within the Gale K12 team.

What you’ll do here:
Gale K12 Content
  • Work closely with Product Management, Usage and Analytics, and User Experience to develop meaningful metrics for measuring user engagement; mine and share this information with product stakeholders. Develop dashboards and report cards designed to gauge the success of content programs and product features.
  • Actively participate in new product development efforts for assigned program. Strategize on present and future content ideas; identify relevant product-specific opportunities related to new or updated content that will foster sales.
  • Work in partnership with content strategy, instructional design, curriculum experts, technology, and marketing to ensure successful launch, positioning, and delivery of the product to the marketplace.
  • Support content strategy and development of supplemental curriculum and database products.
  • Consults on high level troubleshooting in assigned products and across programs.
eBooks
  • Manage the full eBook lifecycle: curation, licensing, conversion, launch, and sunsetting, working closely with cross-functional team members and vendors/service providers.
  • Curate content to fit within curriculum- and/or topically aligned collections; collaborate with Marketing and Sales to ensure curated collections align with customer needs and institutional priorities.
  • Continuously review collections to maintain relevancy, quality, and alignment with academic standards.
  • Monitor industry trends, product reviews, and competitive products/services; propose changes and recommendations based on analysis of trends and customer feedback.
  • Develop multi-year, annual, and monthly strategic plans in collaboration with Product Managers; coordinate as needed with other teams.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline workflows and data-gathering methodologies; implement process improvements that increase both efficiency and ability to make data-driven decisions.

Skills you will need here: 
  • BA/BS or equivalent, recent work experience.
  • Minimum 3 years progressively responsible experience with digital publishing, content development, or a related field.
  • Proven success at understanding and implementing content strategies in digital information products.
  • Strong project management skills with experience coordinating complex workflows.
  • Demonstrated strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and translate insights into action.
  • Proven excellent written and verbal communication skills and diplomacy to articulate relevant information to technical and non-technical audiences and senior management.
  • Highly developed facilitation, problem-solving, communication and interpersonal skills; and ability to provide honest and timely feedback; must be innovative and highly motivated.
  • Self-disciplined with a high degree of accountability
  • Natural curiosity and willingness to learn paired with a desire for continuous improvement
  • Excellent knowledge of information products containing digital content; subject matter expertise, or the demonstrated ability to acquire it

Desirable non-essentials: 
  • Experience with Cengage Learning products, markets, and competitor products, particularly within the K12 space
  • Experience with eBook platforms or digital content creation workflows.
  • Experience in any of the following subject areas: Science or Library Science.

The full base pay range has been provided for this position. Individual base pay will vary based on work schedule, qualifications, experience, internal equity, and geographic location.  Sales roles often incorporate a significant incentive compensation program beyond this base pay range.$67,000.00 - $87,100.00 USD
