Controller Overview:

 

Incident IQ is seeking an experienced Controller to lead our accounting function as the company continues its rapid growth. Reporting to the CFO, this role will oversee all core accounting activities including financial reporting, the monthly close, revenue recognition, and audit management. The Controller will also play an important role in strengthening accounting processes and supporting the continued growth of the business.

 

This role is ideal for a hands-on leader who enjoys improving processes, maintaining strong financial discipline, and developing a high performing accounting team in a fast growing SaaS environment.

 

Controller Responsibilities: 

  • Accounting Leadership: Lead and develop the accounting team, including Senior and Staff Accountants. Build a high performing team through mentorship, clear accountability, and a culture of ownership and continuous improvement.
  • Financial Reporting & Close: Own the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process. Ensure timely, accurate financial reporting in accordance with GAAP and maintain the integrity of the general ledger and financial statements within NetSuite.
  • Revenue Recognition: Oversee revenue recognition in accordance with ASC 606 for SaaS subscription revenue. Partner closely with RevOps, Sales, and Finance to ensure accurate contract accounting, billing alignment, and revenue reporting.
  • Audit Leadership: Lead the annual financial statement audit and coordinate with external auditors. Maintain audit readiness year round through strong documentation, reconciliations, and internal control processes.
  • Accounting Operations: Oversee core accounting functions including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and fixed assets. Ensure all transactions are recorded accurately and efficiently.
  • Systems & Infrastructure: Own the accounting systems environment including NetSuite. Identify opportunities to improve reporting, automate processes, and strengthen system integrations as the business scales.
  • Internal Controls: Establish and maintain a strong internal control framework. Document key accounting policies and processes to ensure consistency, compliance, and scalability.
  • Process Improvement: Continuously evaluate accounting workflows and identify opportunities to improve efficiency, reduce manual processes, and support the company’s growth from $60M ARR to the next stage of scale. 

 

Controller Requirements:

  • Experience: 8-12+ years of progressive accounting experience with significant time spent in high growth SaaS or recurring revenue businesses. 
  • Leadership: Proven experience leading and developing accounting teams while building scalable processes and strong operational discipline.
  • Technical Expertise: Deep knowledge of GAAP and strong expertise in SaaS revenue recognition under ASC 606.
  • Audit Experience: Demonstrated experience leading financial statement audits and maintaining strong audit readiness practices.
  • Systems Expertise: Strong ERP experience, preferably NetSuite, with the ability to optimize systems and leverage automation to improve accounting workflows.
  • Business Partnership: Ability to collaborate effectively across departments including Sales, RevOps, Finance, and Operations to ensure accurate financial reporting and scalable processes.
  • Analytical Mindset: Strong attention to detail combined with the ability to identify operational improvements and implement practical solutions.
  • Growth Orientation: Experience operating in fast paced, scaling companies and building financial infrastructure that supports continued growth.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required.
  • Certification: CPA strongly preferred.
