Job Description

The Coordinator / Athletic Communications serves as a key member of the external operations team to help develop and execute creative content strategies to further promote Virginia Tech Athletics and its brand. Responsibilities for the Coordinator / Athletic Communications will include serving as the primary contact for assigned sports and managing their respective social media accounts. As the primary contact, creative content (i.e., graphics, motion graphics, videos, photos),in addition to written content (i.e., press releases, feature stories), will be used to uniquely promote Virginia Tech student athletes and coaches for assigned sports, while engaging recruits, fans and donors. This position will report directly to the Assistant AD / Creative Communications.

Required Qualifications
Cutting-edge working knowledge of social media, graphic design, video, digital media and written media in athletics.
Demonstrated leadership ability and strong work ethic.
High degree of integrity and commitment to men's and women's athletics and to the values of inclusion.
Computer skills using Mac and PC platforms.
Proficient in using a variety of programs within the Adobe Creative Suite (i.e., Photoshop, After Effects, Lightroom, Illustrator, Premiere Pro, InDesign).
Practical knowledge of social media best practices and emerging platforms.
Must be able to meet deadlines and coordinate multiple tasks.
Excellent communication skills and organizational abilities.
Overnight travel, evening and weekend hours required.

Preferred Qualifications
Experience in a Division I collegiate athletics program.
Experience with Volleyball and/or Track and Field sports.
Knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations as it relates to their job responsibilities.
Experience in generating creative content (i.e., graphics, motion graphics, videos,
photos) and implementing a content strategy to assist recruiting efforts by coaching staffs at the
Division I level.
Bachelors degree with related experience in athletics communications, digital media, or graphic design.
