Position Summary
The Center on Global Energy Policy (CGEP) at Columbia University’s School of International and Public Affairs has an immediate opening for a Corporate Partnership Coordinator. CGEP’s mission is to enable public and private sector leaders to make more informed choices about the world’s most pressing energy issues by providing an independent and interdisciplinary platform for insights and data-driven analysis, convening and information-sharing, education and training, and actionable recommendation on the current and future global energy system.

Reporting to the Director of Corporate Partnerships, the Corporate Partnership Coordinator will provide the leadership to engage, steward, and grow holistic relationships with corporations to fulfill its mission.

A particular focus for CGEP is the impact of issues of racism, environmental justice, gender equality, and inclusion in our energy system. The Center supports a culturally diverse, inclusive and equitable work environment, reflected across our staffing, leadership, scholarship, and operations.

Responsibilities
  • Support the Director in identifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding current and prospective corporate partners aligned with CGEP core priorities and themes.
  • Assist in the creation and deployment of fundraising materials including designing membership materials, solicitation letters, and reports.
  • Identify and track financial information related to gifts and grants in coordination with CGEP's finance team. Maintains database and provides progress reports against goals. 
  • Draft gift agreements and oversee a timely collection of payments.
  • Assist with event management for donor-specific cultivation events, such as staffing and supporting; identifying potential venues and caterers; creating and distributing event invitations; preparing agendas and timelines; creating guest lists and tracking registrations; compiling post-event data and tracking data.    
  • Prepare briefing materials for the Founding Director, Research Director, and CGEP scholars in preparation for corporate stewardship and cultivation meetings.    
  • Oversee the corporate mid-career professionals briefing series, including topic generation, coordinating with scholars, sending invitations and tracking registrations, and running meetings.
  • Write and proof materials integral to donor communications, such as acknowledgments, stewardship reports, and the monthly corporate partners newsletter.         
  • Utilize and improve various CRM systems to maintain accurate and detailed records.
  • Performs other related tasks as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree, and at least two-four years of related experience.
  • Excellent interpersonal, relationship-building, communication, and collaboration skills.
  • Possess the executive presence, gravitas, energy, and confidence to develop internal and external relationships with diverse constituencies.
  • Ability to build strong and collaborative relationships and to communicate crisply and clearly in writing and orally.     
  • Demonstrated ability to build trust and rapport with others authentically. 
  • Must be very organized and detail-oriented, able to meet tight deadlines and adapt to a fast-paced, fluid environment while balancing multiple tasks at once.
  • Must be available to work a flexible schedule, including early mornings and late evenings as required.
  • A high level of emotional intelligence with the ability to adapt to changing circumstances, respond to stress, and manage conflict.
  • Ability to navigate complexity and different personalities, function independently, and exercise diplomacy, discretion, and judgment with humor and grace.  

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with graphic design (e.g. Canva, InDesign, PPT, etc.)
  • Experience with Salesforce, Microsoft Office, Google Suite.
  • Professional experience within non-profit, NGO, and academic settings.
  • Professional experience in the energy or climate sector.
  • Interest in the Center’s mission and areas of focus.
