Position Description
Advertised Job Summary | Coordinator for Student Engagement Do you enjoy working and leading student staff? Do you have a passion for creating a culture of sustainability?
The Coordinator for Student Engagement will work closely with and report to the Associate Director of Sustainability and the rest of the University of South Carolina’s sustainability team to develop, implement, oversee, and evaluate programs that will help cultivate a culture of sustainability at USC. The Coordinator will be responsible for managing student staff of the Office of Sustainability and members of the Sustainable Carolina Leadership Program. The Coordinator will coach undergraduate students on their leadership, employability, integrative learning, and project development. This position requires experience and passion for empowering and mentoring student employees, liaising with key campus stakeholders and groups, and providing educational and outreach services.
Key duties:manage student sustainability staff, the Sustainable Carolina Leadership Program, and plan professional development activities for undergraduate students in the program specifically focused on maximizing opportunities in the AASHE STARS-Engagement category. Serve as a Leadership Coach for students in Sustainable Carolina Leadership Program. Assist and mentor students in developing their GLD E-portfolios. Lead recruitment efforts for student staff positions and volunteers

Job Related Minimum Required Education and Experience | Requires a bachelor’s degree in a job related field and 2 or more years of job related experience, which may be substituted by an equivalent combination of job related certification, training, education, and/or experience.
Required Certification, Licensure/Other Credentials
Preferred Qualifications | Master’s degree, or a bachelor’s degree and 2 years’ experience in a field such as sustainability education, student engagement, or organizational administration. Demonstrated evidence in coordinating, organizing, and implementing programs and/or events. Experience working with diverse groups and individuals as well as partnership building and collaboration.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities | Proven speaking and writing skills. Knowledge of sustainability issues and trends. Successful candidate will demonstrate extensive communication and organizational skills, understanding of sustainability issues, ability to work with students and diverse groups, and sound planning and analytical skills. Additionally, the candidate will be expected to travel to local, regional, and national events occasionally.
