Edtech.com's Summary

Rutgers University is hiring a Coordinator of Special Programs to lead violence prevention and victim assistance work at Rutgers University-Camden and to support the campus CARES team, which connects students facing academic, medical, or behavioral challenges with resources and referrals. The coordinator reports to the Dean of Students, serves as the campus point of contact for victim assistance, and manages the university's partnership with SERV, a community-based victim assistance provider. This is a nonclinical coordination and education role, so specialized services are arranged through SERV and other qualified providers.

Highlights
  • Lead campus violence-prevention education and victim assistance initiatives, serving as the primary campus contact and managing the university's partnership with SERV.
  • Assess student needs, decide which help can be coordinated on campus and which needs warrant referral to SERV or other resources, and follow up to confirm students are connected.
  • Provide routine outreach and follow-up for a limited CARES caseload, offering students resources, advocacy, referrals, and options for academic, medical, and behavioral concerns.
  • Develop and run Sexual Assault Awareness Month programming, take part in summer orientation, and deliver education through the academic year in collaboration with campus offices.
  • Split time evenly between violence prevention and CARES, with scheduling that shifts around orientation, major prevention initiatives, and student needs.
  • Bachelor's degree in student affairs, higher education, social work, public health, psychology, counseling, or a related field (or equivalent experience), plus two years of experience in student support, violence prevention education, victim assistance, or case coordination.
  • New Jersey victim advocate certification, completed at hire or within six months of starting, along with knowledge of consent, healthy relationships, and survivor-centered, trauma-informed support.
  • Preferred qualifications include a master's degree, experience delivering services to survivors of sexual assault, dating or domestic violence, and stalking, and knowledge of Title IX and the Clery Act.
  • Salary range of $68,278 to $100,509, in a full-time, 37.5-hour, 12-month position with occasional evening and weekend programming.
  • Fully on-site at Rutgers University-Camden.
