Primary Function of Organizational Unit | The University College is designed to provide consistent, high-quality and appropriate academic advising, monitoring, mentoring, nurturing and coaching to ensure students’ academic and personal success.
Primary Purpose of Position | The Coordinator of Student Transition and Engagement support the holistic success of new and continuing students by developing, implementing, and assessing programs that foster belonging, engagement, and retention. This role coordinates orientation, transition initiatives, and engagement opportunities that empower students to connect with campus resources, peers, and the broader community.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities | A strong record of creative problem solving, including strategic thinking and planning, is required. Exceptional interpersonal and written communication skills. Ability to perform in a high degree of judgment, diplomacy, and discretion and to make difficult and timely decisions with integrity. Proficiency with the EAB Navigate platform is desired.
Ability to work collaboratively with students, colleagues, and families to support undergraduate students through difficult and complicated situations. Experience managing student crises effectively and collaboratively. Demonstrated success supporting students from historically underrepresented and/or minoritized backgrounds is required. Ability to use technology in the delivery of services and case management; agility and familiarity with latest software, database systems, computer literacy. Strong teamwork and conflict resolution skills.
Minimum Education/Experience |
Required QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Higher Education, Student Affairs, Counseling, or a related field.At least 1–3 years of experience in student engagement, orientation, or related student services.Strong organizational, project management, and communication skills.Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively across diverse campus departments.Commitment to fostering an inclusive, welcoming environment for students from all backgrounds.
Preferred QualificationsMaster’s degree in Higher Education, College Student Personnel, Counseling, or related discipline.Experience in program assessment, data analysis, and student retention initiatives.Familiarity with student engagement platforms and learning management systems.Bilingual or multilingual abilities.
