Position Summary  | The Coordinator, Student Support provides outreach and holistic support to students in the Office of Academic Support, with a focus on students who may be at risk or in need of additional assistance. The caseload includes, but is not limited to, students who are not in good academic standing, students on Financial Aid probation, and students experiencing extenuating medical or personal circumstances (e.g. temporary injury, illness, bereavement, etc.). The Coordinator plans and implements student support programs such as the Sophomore Support Program, collaborates with campus partners such as the Center for Student Life and Leadership on student support initiatives such as Commuter Appreciation Week, and delivers family and guest programming during New Student Orientation. As a member of the Office of Academic Support team in the Center for Student Success, the Coordinator contributes to academic improvement and student success initiatives as needed.
Education/Experience  | Master’s degree in education, counseling, student personnel/development, or a related field plus 3 years of experience in academic support, advising, retention, transitional, or related programs in a college setting required, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Physical Requirements  | Light work: including the following physical activities: stationary position, occasionally move about inside the office to access supplies and office machinery, operate a computer, calculator, and printer, communicate and exchange accurate information and ideas so others will understand, observe and inspect details at close range. Working conditions are primarily inside. Position may require additional hours for meetings and events, including days, evenings, and/or weekends.
Essential Functions  | Meet individually with assigned students to provide academic support on an ongoing basis. Assist the Director, Academic Support with planning and implementing programming for students who are struggling academically. Work in partnership with the Financial Aid Office to create and implement developmental academic plans for students who are on financial aid probation. Coordinate activities and events for the Sophomore Support program. Coordinate breakout sessions for families at New Student Orientation and provide general assistance for parent and family programming during orientation events. Work with students to develop time management and organizational skills. Coordinate services for students experiencing extenuating medial and personal circumstances such as short-term illness and injury, including communicating on behalf of students to faculty when students may not be able to attend class. Manage bereavement notification process for students in compliance with the university bereavement policy. Teach up to 2 sections per year of a Student Success course (e.g., First-Year Seminar, Strategies for Academic Success) as part of full-time workload. Maintain confidential records, collect data, and prepare reports related to the primary functions of the position. Ensure adherence to institutional policies, procedures, and regulations. Attend all Center for Student Success staff meetings, University meetings, and other meetings as assigned. Participate in university events related to recruiting, alumni relations, and orientation (e.g. Open Houses, Stevenson Scholars Days, Homecoming, New Student Registration and Orientation, etc.). Attend relevant professional development activities and programming.
