Coordinator - UOP Reach for The Stars STEM Academy - Stockton (Temporary) Full Description

The Coordinator, UOP Reach for the Stars STEM Academy (RFTSSA), joins the University of the Pacific and Stockton Unified School District's collaboration to implement the Reach for the Stars STEM Academy for the summer of 2026 on the Stockton campus, under the direct supervision of the School of Engineering Assistant Dean for Student Success. The academy is an academically intense, mathematics-based summer enrichment program designed for students who lack access to resources that would enable them to accelerate their learning and move into college preparatory coursework in high school.

The Coordinator works directly with the Assistant Dean to build, expand, and improve academy program delivery, and is instrumental in assisting teachers with curriculum implementation and project development, working closely with the Lead Teacher, other teachers, and classroom Teaching Assistants to deliver the daily curriculum.

Essential Functions

Provide staff development for teachers and teaching assistants regarding the philosophical application and long-term goals of the Tomorrow Project and project-based curriculum development
Provide classroom instructional support as needed
Collaborate with teachers to reinforce curriculum implementation and behavioral restorative justice
Observe instructional methodologies and provide feedback to teachers with consultative guidance from the Program Administrator
Support teachers in monitoring daily activities such as student breaks, lunch, and field trips
Hold daily staff meetings with teachers and/or teaching assistants
Coordinate logistics for ordering classroom instructional supplies, setting up field trips, and ordering daily meals
Interview, supervise, and train teaching assistants, volunteers, and/or work study students

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree and a valid Multiple Subject, Single Subject Mathematics, or Science teaching credential, or STEM certification
Ten years of direct teaching experience in a public middle and/or high school setting
Five years of coordinator/project management experience
