At Tutor Me Education, we are revolutionizing the way students learn, and we're seeking passionate teachers and tutors with special education experience to provide 1:1 in-home tutoring in Los Angeles, CA! About the Role: As an Tutor at Tutor Me Education, you’ll provide personalized, one-on-one tutoring to students with special needs in their homes. You will be responsible for helping students with daily activities, offering moral support, and delivering tailored instruction based on their Individualized Education Plan (IEP).
We are currently hiring for multiple positions across all cities in Los Angeles, CA
Details:
- In-Person Tutoring in Los Angeles, CA
- Schedule: 25 hours a month; 3 sessions- 2 hours
- Pay rate ranges from $25-$35 per hour
Ideal Candidate:
- Teaching credential required
- Fluent in both English and Spanish
- Experience supporting students with Intellectual Disabilities in post-secondary, transition, or adult learning programs
- Strong background in executive functioning, organization, study skills, and academic coaching
- Comfortable providing support across multiple subject areas, including reading comprehension, vocabulary development, writing, and test preparation
- Proficient in teaching technology and digital literacy skills, including internet navigation, online learning platforms, Microsoft Excel, and basic computer applications
- Skilled at breaking down complex assignments into manageable steps and providing clear, structured instruction
- Patient, encouraging, and experienced in supporting students who require frequent repetition and guided practice
- Able to teach self-advocacy, time management, and independent learning skills
- Strong lesson-planning and progress-monitoring abilities
- Comfortable incorporating stress-management and confidence-building strategies into academic support
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide individualized academic support for a college student with an Intellectual Disability across coursework and assignments
- Support success in a Hands-On Internet course through direct instruction in digital literacy, online navigation, internet research, and technology skills
- Teach and reinforce Microsoft Excel fundamentals, including data entry, spreadsheet organization, formatting, and basic formulas
- Assist with reading fluency, reading comprehension, vocabulary development, and written communication skills
- Support executive functioning through organization systems, planners, checklists, scheduling tools, and task management strategies
- Break down assignments and instructions into clear, manageable steps to improve understanding and completion
- Provide homework assistance, guided practice, and repeated instruction as needed
- Reinforce study skills, test preparation strategies, and independent learning habits
- Support the development of self-advocacy, confidence, and coping strategies related to academic stress and mental wellness
- Use visual supports, modeling, repetition, and hands-on instruction to promote skill mastery
- Incorporate real-world applications and student interests to increase engagement and retention
- Maintain consistent communication regarding student progress, challenges, and instructional recommendations
