About the Role: As an Tutor at Tutor Me Education, you’ll provide personalized, one-on-one tutoring to students with special needs in their homes. You will be responsible for helping students with daily activities, offering moral support, and delivering tailored instruction based on their Individualized Education Plan (IEP).
We are currently hiring for multiple positions across all cities in Colton, CA
Details:
- In-Person Tutoring in Colton, CA
- Schedule: 15 hours a month; Schedule to be discussed
- Rate ranges from $25-$35 per hour
Ideal Candidate:
- Valid teaching credential required (Special Education or Multiple Subject preferred)
- Experience working with middle school students with autism in special education settings
- Strong background in structured literacy instruction, including decoding, fluency, and reading comprehension
- Experience supporting foundational math skills, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and multi-step word problems
- Familiarity with IEP-based instruction and differentiated learning strategies
- Experience implementing behavior support strategies; RBT certification preferred
- Skilled in using visual supports, manipulatives, and step-by-step instruction
- Patient, structured, and encouraging, with the ability to build confidence and engagement
- Creative in incorporating games and interactive activities into lessons
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide individualized, IEP-aligned instruction in literacy, focusing on decoding, fluency, and comprehension
- Implement structured reading activities, including guided reading, vocabulary development, and comprehension checks
- Use strategies such as shared reading, story retelling, and discussion to improve understanding and engagement
- Deliver targeted math instruction in foundational skills, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division
- Support problem-solving skills, particularly with multi-step word problems using step-by-step modeling
- Incorporate manipulatives, visuals, and hands-on strategies to reinforce math concepts
- Create engaging lessons using board games, puzzles, and sensory-based activities to support learning
- Maintain structured sessions with clear routines, expectations, and scheduled breaks
- Provide positive reinforcement and encouragement to build confidence and persistence
- Monitor progress and adjust instruction based on student needs
- Communicate regularly with caregivers regarding progress and strategies
