The Curriculum and Instruction Specialist (CIS) works closely with Curriculum Architects, as well as Subject Matter Experts, Visual Design, Print Design, Media, Editorial, User Experience, and production support team members to create instructional content, including writing, storyboarding, and reviewing lesson activities, assessments, and instructional guides to meet the goals of specified learning objectives. The CIS may also be asked to participate in the early blueprinting/prototyping phases of a project, contribute new ideas to products and processes, and work to ensure quality and consistency throughout a project. As a seasoned professional, they are technically credible and skilled at applying knowledge in their discipline to solutions, and can lend their knowledge through training and developing teachers and staff – direct customers of the product.

  • Collaborate to determine the strategic approach to course structure, and help create and maintain Scope and Sequences for new courses across one or more grade levels;
  • Collaborate on the planning of content modules and design materials for multi-year curriculum to meet content standards;
  • Coordinate with other curriculum architects, design teams, and production support teams to develop prototypes and templates for activities and lessons (online and offline);
  • Collaborate with training team in developing and maintaining professional development around course implementation, teaching strategies, and best practices when utilizing curriculum and content assets;
  • Design and write content for instructional soundness, pace of presentation, age-appropriateness, consistency of tone and style, accessibility, and general readability;
  • Work with Visual Designers to create and develop interactive assets and materials, as well as develop visual standards relating to content;
  • Stay apprised of current research and best practices related to curriculum, instructional design, and assessment;
  • Actively collaborate across all Teaching and Learning verticals to support the creation of high-quality curriculum and instruction;
  • In collaboration with staff, teachers, school leaders, and other SMEs, establish outcomes, competency-based curriculum, teacher support guides/resources, and assessments to measure competencies;
  • Assists with the evaluations of the effectiveness of all curricular, instructional, and assessment programs and teacher resource development;
  • Effective presentation skills for in-person and virtual settings utilizing a variety of collaboration and engagements strategies;
  • Providing a brief overview of the course and its main components so that instructors who teach the course will have a sense of its design and how best to teach it.

Supervisory Responsibilities: This position has no formal supervisory responsibilities.

MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:   
  • Five (5) years of experience in learning product development

Certificates and Licenses: None required.

OTHER REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:  
  • Strong technology skills, use of media and instructional design techniques
  • Strong written and oral communication skills; good interpersonal skills
  • Self-motivated with a demonstrated ability to meet deadlines with creativity, independence, and high standards
  • Demonstrated ability to establish objectives, identify problems, analyze data, and creatively deliver solutions
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively on large-scale projects and adapt to new environments and meet new challenges head on
  • Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, Visio, etc.); Web proficiency
  • Ability to clear required background check

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Master’s degree in Instructional Design, Curriculum Design, Curriculum and Instruction, education, or related field

Compensation & Benefits: Stride, Inc. considers a person’s education, experience, and qualifications, as well as the position’s work location, expected quality and quantity of work, required travel (if any), external market and internal value when determining a new employee’s salary level.  Salaries will differ based on these factors, the position’s level and expected contribution, and the employee’s benefits elections.  
  • We anticipate the salary range to be $68,599 to $112,269.25. The upper end of this range is not likely to be offered, as an individual’s compensation can vary based on several factors. These factors include, but are not limited to, geographic location, experience, training, education, and local market conditions. Eligible employees may receive a bonus. Stride offers a robust benefits package for eligible employees that can include health benefits, retirement contributions, and paid time off.
