Job Summary
The Utah Museum of Fine Arts is located on the campus of the University of Utah and offers visitors the opportunity to explore over 5,000 years of human creativity with a collection of over 20,000 objects and art works from classic Greek and Roman antiquities to cutting-edge, contemporary art. Founded in 1914, the UMFA is the state of Utah’s art museum, creating exhibitions and programs that serve a wide array of audiences. The UMFA is housed in the award-winning Marcia and John Price Museum Building. The Museum Store Clerk is responsible for delivering excellent customer service while welcoming guests to the store, maintaining displays, processing transactions accurately and demonstrate current Museum knowledge.
Responsibilities
Provides excellent customer service to Museum guests
a. Greet each guest with a friendly face and helpful attitude
b. Ability to multi-task and prioritize
c. Accurately process store transactions
d. Answer phone calls professionally
e. Complete cleaning and stocking duties while remaining aware of customer needs
Demonstrates museum knowledge
a. Responsible for general knowledge of Museum operations
b. Awareness of current exhibitions and programs
c. Receives updates via email, reviews general calendar and responds to email correspondence
d. Proficient in selling memberships and member benefits
e. Assist customers with calendar, exhibition, program and event questions
Minimum Qualifications
EQUIVALENCY STATEMENT: 1 year of higher education can be substituted for 1 year of directly related work experience (Example: bachelor’s degree = 4 years of directly related work experience).

Department may hire employee at one of the following job levels:

Customer Service Representative, I: Requires little to no related experience.
Preferences
A successful candidate possesses exceptional customer service skills, is a self-starter with a dedication to quality, presentation, and cleanliness. Reliability and dependability is a must.

Previous experience in retail or another customer driven environment.
