Job Description Summary
The Career and Professional Development (CPD)’s Data and Systems Analyst serves as the systems administrator for all career technology platforms (collectively, “CPD Systems”). Additionally, this role cleans, processes, analyzes, and develops reports and visualizations of the career outcomes data, student and employer engagement data, and other data points for the CPD. The Data and Systems Analyst will identify and track key performance indicators (KPIs), including systems usage and event attendance, as well as respond to all ad-hoc survey and reporting requests. This position reports to the Associate VP of CPD, supervises the data student workers, and collaborates with key campus partners, including IS&T, school-based career liaisons and departments, Institutional Research and Decision Support (IRADS), and University Advancement (UA).
Responsibilities
Data Analytics and Reporting 
  • Utilize Excel and other statistical software (e.g., Python) to compile, clean, analyze, and verify large data sets: First-Destination Survey (FDS), employer surveys, and KPIs, including student and employer engagement/satisfaction data, event attendance, CPD Systems usage data, etc. (collectively, the CPD Data).
  • Use PeopleSoft Query, Handshake Looker, or other tools and work with campus partners to create and extract data from the applicable databases to import into the CPD Systems (and vice versa, as applicable, including in the Employer Relationship Management (ERM) and UA CRM systems).
  • Develop reports and visualizations of the CPD Data, including comprehensive internal Power BI dashboards to visualize the FDS data and applicable KPIs based on the needs of each CPD functional area.
  • Collaborate with IS&T’s Data Systems team to create and maintain the FDS database, dashboards, and reports, as well as format the survey in compliance with the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE) FDS standards.
  • Identify and resolve errors in data collection, reconciliation, synthesization, and reporting.
  • Under the direction of the Associate VP of CPD, design and improve career-related survey instruments and coordinate activities associated with survey collection and research.
  • Respond to all internal and external career-related ad- hoc report requests and provide relevant data, as well as support any accreditation, rankings, or required survey requests from campus stakeholders. 

Systems Administration
  • Serve as the systems administrator for all career technology platforms at the CPD, including Handshake, The Panther Network, Chapman Career AI, First-Destination Survey (FDS) platform, ERM system, Planner or other project management software, etc. (collectively, the CPD Systems).
  • Optimize the use of the CPD Systems by proactively identifying, researching, and implementing improvements and new features, including integrations and RSS feeds to increase efficiency; and analyze and assess the impact of these changes.
  • Maintain and ensure best practices in the CPD Systems, including developing timelinesfor reporting, and visualization.
  • Develop user management, trainings, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and reference materials for recurring tasks, projects, and responsibilities to effectively support CPD staff and student workers.
  • Oversee any new career technology or software implementation and PeopleSoft Campus Solutions and UA CRM (e.g., Affinaquest) integration with any applicable CPD Systems.
  • Explore and manage the use of generative AI to scale, enhance, and tailor CPD’s career support for students and alumni.
  • Collaborate and coordinate with campus stakeholders, including the school-based career liaisons, to ensure uniform best practices in the CPD Systems, including consistent data tracking and reporting.
  • Act as the point person for all staff user trainings, troubleshooting, and feature/enhancement requests for the CPD Systems.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computational and data sciences, data analytics, or a related field; master’s degree preferred.
  • Strong analytical skills with proven ability to analyze and prioritize requests; interpret and comply with data need, standards, and policies; and form conclusions or make appropriate recommendations.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel with experience using advanced formulas/macros, scripts, pivot tables, etc. for manipulating, cleaning, organizing, and data validating large data sets to ensure accuracy.
  • Strong technical skills to learn and use enterprise and departmental systems and applications.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to effectively train and coach staff and explain database-related concepts and metrics in a meaningful way to a non-technical audience.
  • Experience with creating clear and concise application documentation and training materials.
  • Ability to work independently and problem solve, take initiative, and set/meet own deadlines.
  • Experience with gathering and documenting requirements, validating and user acceptance testing for new system enhancements/changes.
  • Possess a strong attention to detail and excellent organizational and time management skills, as well a proactive approach to manage multiple, competing priorities/projects with time-sensitive deadlines that may fluctuate.
  • Strong technical acumen with demonstrated fluency in standard business software, such as the Microsoft Office suite, databases, reporting applications, data cleaning and analysis, Power BI/Tableau/data visualization tools, Qualtrics, and project management tools.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle confidential information and display sound judgment and ethics.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, and ability to communicate to diverse constituent groups.
Desired Qualifications
  • 1-2 years’ experience as a systems administrator and/or independently assisting functional users with data analysis and reporting needs.
  • Experience with designing and administering surveys, conducting post-collection statistical analysis and data storytelling.
  • Basic skills in SPSS, R, Python, or other comparable statistical software.
  • Knowledge or experience managing and extracting data from enterprise applications (e.g., Agilon’s One, PeopleSoft, Handshake, Salesforce, etc.).
