Role Overview
Informed K12 is dedicated to accelerating the pace of innovation within K-12 school districts across the United States. We are seeking a passionate Data Engineer to help build and maintain the data foundations that drive our mission forward. Working as a key member of our growing data team, you will focus on integrating various data sources, developing robust data pipelines, and creating insightful reports to assess account health, support our customer-facing teams, and inform strategic decisions.
This role is perfect for a Data Engineer who is eager to contribute to a mission-driven organization and wants to develop their skills in a dynamic environment. You will collaborate closely with senior data team members, as well as stakeholders in Customer Success, Sales, Revenue Operations, and Product, to turn data into actionable insights that ultimately improve educational outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Data Integration & Pipeline Development: Implement, test, and maintain scalable data pipelines to integrate data from diverse sources including our application databases, usage analytics (Pendo), CRM (Salesforce), support (Zendesk), etc.
- Reporting & Visualization: Design, develop, and support insightful reports, dashboards, and data visualizations to track key performance indicators, district account health, and operational metrics for Customer Success, Sales, and other departments.
- Data Modeling & Warehouse Support: Assist in the development, implementation, and maintenance of data models within our data warehouse, ensuring data is organized, accurate, and accessible for analytical needs.
- Data Quality & Governance: Contribute to data quality initiatives by performing data validation, implementing monitoring processes, troubleshooting data issues, and documenting data sources and logic.
- Collaboration & Support: Work with cross-functional teams to understand their data requirements, provide technical support for data-related inquiries, and help translate business needs into technical solutions.
Qualifications
- Experience: 5-7 years of hands-on experience in a data engineering, business intelligence, or data analytics role.
- Technical Proficiency:
- Strong proficiency in SQL for data querying, transformation, and analysis is essential.
- Experience with ETL/ELT processes and tools.
- Demonstrated ability to build and maintain reports and dashboards using BI and data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, Looker, Metabase, or similar).
- Experience with or exposure to programming/scripting languages (e.g., Python) for data manipulation and automation is a plus.
- Data Fundamentals: Solid understanding of relational databases, data warehousing concepts, and data modeling principles.
- Data Integration: Experience integrating data from various sources (APIs, databases, flat files). Familiarity with common SaaS platform data (e.g., Salesforce, Pendo, Google Analytics) is beneficial.
- Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with a keen eye for detail.
- Collaboration: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
- Adaptability: Eagerness to learn new technologies and adapt to a fast-paced, evolving environment.
- Domain Interest (Bonus): Interest in the EdTech space, B2B SaaS metrics, K-12 education.
