Job Description:

Job Title: Data Engineer/Analyst Associate
Job Location: 557 Broadway, New York, NY 10012
Job Type: Full-time, 9am – 6pm, 40 hours a week, Monday – Friday

Duties:
Provide data-driven insights and execute recommendations as part of the Data Engineering team. Maintain financial analysis, customer analytics, data engineering, web analytics, and analysis of offline activities. Interface with other developers, product owners and business analysts to understand data needs. Develop and maintain Scholastic's data infrastructure to drive efficient and reliable processes. Utilize data to analyze the effectiveness of Scholastic’s marketing efforts across channels. Develop dashboards and improve reporting measures, operations, supply chain. Remote work permitted within reasonable commuting distance of the New York, NY office.

Qualifications

Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Engineering, Math or a closely related quantitative discipline and three (3) years of experience as a Data Engineer, Data Warehouse Analyst, Data Warehouse Solution Architect, Graduate Assistant or related role where experience was gained. Also requires [2] years of experience in the following:
  • SQL skills for purposes of data extraction, transformation, cleaning and analysis;
  • Excel, SAS, R or Python skills in analysis, statistics and charting;
  • Setting up framework for Operational Data Store where data from other systems will be available in real time for reporting and analysis;
  • Creating a run book for migrating processes from the python based code to AWS Glue Framework;
  • Setting up automated life cycle policies on AWS Sagemaker to shut down the resources when not in use to save cost to the company;
  • Setting up the dbt/data transformation tool (new ETL tool) which will be used by the team;
  • Supporting the daily production jobs that run on complex data pipelines using EMRs and EC2s;
  • Using git for source code control and change management processes;
  • Develop quality monitors using metaplane and send notifications via Webhooks;
  • Integrate metaplane notifications with other tools like JIRA and MS Office; and
  • Create lifecycle policies on AWS for Sagemaker notebooks and other AWS resources for cost optimization.
