Job Summary

UAIR is seeking a director to lead our Administrative Reporting team. In this role, you’ll direct a team that provides information and sound research about the institution’s finances, academic research, faculty, and staff with the goal of enhancing decision-making, problem-solving, strategic planning, policy review, and institutional assessment. You’ll execute a forward-thinking, collaborative approach to delivering actionable insights that shape the University’s strategic direction. You’ll empower stakeholders at all levels with timely, reliable, and incisive information to inform consequential decisions impacting finance, research benchmarks, and institutional effectiveness.

Responsibilities
Job Responsibilities:

1. Data Insights Analytics
  • Provide thought leadership and contributions to the development and management of performance indicators in key university data domains (finance, academic research, employee)
  • Direct the production of dashboards and reports that demonstrate best practices in data visualization and clearly depict insights. Work to expand the arsenal of widely available data.
  • Identify opportunities for institutional improvement by leveraging data to provide recommendations that support the university’s goals
  • Contribute to the development of data-informed institutional policies and initiative
2. Data Insights Collaboration
  • Collaborate with data stewards to establish and maintain consistency in data reporting and analytics
  • Partner with end-users around campus to understand reporting needs, serve as a point of contact, and maintain positive working relationships
  • Promote the availability of data assets to stakeholders around campus, support their adoption through communication and training
  • Proactively seek feedback from campus stakeholders on data assets, identify gaps in the availability of data assets, and work to continually meet the evolving data needs of campus
  • Collaborate with UAIR leadership and campus leadership to align analytics initiatives with business goals and strategic priorities
3.Leadership and Operations
  • Manage teams of analysts, providing strategic direction, technical guidance, and promoting and supporting the professional development of each individual
  • Manage staff operations including hiring and onboarding new team members, providing ongoing supervision, addressing personnel issues and actions, conducting performance reviews
  • Collaborate with UAIR Data Management Team. Develop comprehensive specifications for new or optimized data sources that empower robust reporting and analytics
4. Innovation and Continuous Improvement
  • Support the continuous improvement of data reporting capabilities and the advancement of automated reporting on campus
  • Leverage advanced analytical techniques and support data integration to streamline and automate critical workflows. Foster a culture of continuous improvement by identifying opportunities for improvement and innovation in business processes.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree (plus 12 years of experience), or a master’s plus 10 years of directly related work experience
  • Minimum 10 years of relevant work experience
  • 2 years related work experience at a managerial level and directly supervising employees
  • Proficiency in presenting data, articulating insights, and writing reports

Minimum Qualifications
EQUIVALENCY STATEMENT: 1 year of higher education can be substituted for 1 year of directly related work experience (Example: bachelor’s degree = 4 years of directly related work experience).

Supervisor, Data / Reporting Analytics Management: Requires a bachelor’s (or equivalency) + 2 years of directly related work experience or a master’s (or equivalency) degree.

Senior Supervisor, Data / Reporting Analytics Management: Requires a bachelor’s (or equivalency) + 4 years or a master’s (or equivalency) + 2 years of directly related work experience.
Manager, Data / Reporting Analytics Management: Requires a bachelor’s (or equivalency) + 6 years or a master’s (or equivalency) + 4 years of directly related work experience.
Senior Manager, Data / Reporting Analytics Management: Requires a bachelor’s (or equivalency) + 8 years or a master’s (or equivalency) + 6 years of directly related work experience.

Director, Data / Reporting Analytics Management: Requires a bachelor’s (or equivalency) + 12 years or a master’s (or equivalency) + 10 years of directly related work experience.

Preferences
  • Experience working in a higher education setting and a working knowledge of higher education regulations and policies
  • Experience in advanced data analysis, predictive modeling, and leveraging data to drive strategic decision-making
  • Demonstrated subject matter expertise in one or more or the following areas: finance, academic research data, faculty data, employee data
  • Ability to synthesize qualitative and quantitative information into actionable insights
  • Experience managing multiple large-scale projects and initiatives with evolving priorities
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders, often while handling confidential and sensitive information with integrity and discretion
  • Knowledge of data governance, privacy laws, and quality assurance
  • Advanced skills in Tableau and SQL (or other programming languages such as Python, R, etc.)
