Job Description
Residency Requirements: This position is remote and strongly prefers candidates that reside in Tennessee. May consider candidates that reside in surrounding states: Alabama, Mississippi, Georgia, Florida, South Carolina, North Carolina, Virginia, Kentucky, Missouri, Arkansas, and Louisiana.
  • Must be able to attend in person PDs, testing, and other school events.

SUMMARY: The Data Specialist is responsible for analyzing and interpreting assessment data related to individual student achievement and overall academic performance across grades K-12. This role maintains accurate and confidential student achievement records and supports data analysis training for teachers and administrators to improve instruction and student learning outcomes, with a focus on academically at-risk students.

In addition, the coordinator supports data collection for required assessments, applies appropriate statistical methods, reviews school and state data to identify trends and comparisons, and develops reports for internal and external stakeholders as needed.

  • Assist with analyzing local, state, and national assessment data as it relates to individual student performance and school improvement focused on at-risk students.
  • Develop and maintain historical student and school data files to monitor and track performance.
  • Interpret and review assessment data with administrators and teachers.
  • Compile data from multiple assessments to develop student, subject, grade-level, or school achievement profiles.
  • Work with faculty and staff in schools to conduct training in the use of data to improve instruction to target academic achievement where learning and achievement gaps are present.
  • Ensure the validity of all data presented to staff and stakeholders.

This is a full-time position. Ability to work independently, typically 40+ hours per week is required. Ability to maintain a professional home office without distraction during workday, typically 9-5 (or 8-4) or as defined by the school. 

Supervisory Responsibilities: This position has no formal supervisory responsibilities.

MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:   
  • Advanced Excel skills
  • Three (3) years of relevant experience with data analysis
  • Proficient with PowerBi or similar database program
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Effective customer service and interpersonal skills
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Experience in developing reports and/or dashboards
  • Ability to pass background check

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:  
  • Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Statistics or other related field
