The Dean of General Education (DOGE) is responsible for general education curriculum, preparing
students for advancement to core nursing, and student outcomes at their campus within the Arizona College of Nursing (College) system. They collaborate with the other members of the campus leadership team and the Administrative Office to guide decision-making and ensure alignment with the College's vision and values. General education curriculum is delivered on weekday evenings.

Essential responsibilities:

General education curriculum
  • Lead the general education component of the nursing program, set strategic goals,
    and ensure alignment with College-wide objectives, utilizing data and statistics related
    to program outcomes to engage in improvement strategies.
  • Recruit, hire, and lead the general education team, fostering a collaborative and
    inclusive work environment.
  • Provide ongoing support, guidance, and professional development opportunities to
    faculty members to enhance their teaching skills and promote student success.
  • Oversee general education faculty evaluations, ensuring adherence to established
    performance standards and regulations, providing constructive feedback for growth
    and improvement.
Science laboratory
  • Develop and maintain an effective science lab supply procurement process to ensure
    appropriate inventory levels are adhered to.
  • Integrate nursing lab equipment and techniques into general education curriculum.
Student outcomes
  • Maintain an on-site presence and interact often with students, faculty, and staff.
  • Support student compliance requirements for students’ advancement to core nursing
    in collaboration with the Dean of Nursing and the Campus President.
  • Promote a student-centric approach, fostering an environment that supports the
    personal and professional growth of students.
  • Collaborate with faculty and staff to develop strategies that enhance student
    recruitment, retention, and success.
  • Develop and implement policies, procedures, and curriculum to maintain consistency
    across all campuses, while accommodating regional needs and regulations.
  • Foster an environment of academic excellence, innovation, and continuous
    improvement within the nursing program.
Regulatory compliance
  • Maintain compliant records, including faculty files and student records.
  • Address student concerns, complaints, and disciplinary issues in accordance with
    College policies and procedures.
  • Supervise and conduct face-to-face and online classroom observations of the General Education faculty and supporting staff per ABHES requirements.

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
 
Must have:
  • Master’s degree from a CHEA accredited institution
  • Two years’ academic leadership experience
  • Two years’ full-time teaching experience or equivalent experience in an adjunct capacity

Nice to have:
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s of Science in biology, anatomy, physiology, microbiology, chemistry, or a related discipline
  • Doctorate degree from an accredited institution
  • Experience in higher education preferred
