Job Description:
The School of Biological and Health Systems Engineering (SBHSE) in the Ira A. Fulton Schools of Engineering is searching for a highly motivated, outgoing, dynamic individual to join our team as a Department Human Resources Specialist Senior. Under general supervision this position will manage and perform work of considerable responsibility in administering human resource functions in a complex academic unit with significant research and instructional emphasis. The successful candidate must be skilled in maintaining effective working relationships among a diverse population, skilled in handling confidential and sensitive information, be extremely organized and work effectively in an environment subject to quickly changing priorities.
This position will routinely interact with other members of the SBHSE staff, faculty, students, the Engineering Dean's Office, other ASU units, external parties and the Director, so excellent communication skills are critical. The successful candidate must show a strong ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities and be able to solve problems and work well in a fast-paced, deadline-driven, team environment. Knowledge of academic and university policies and procedures and the ability to identify and implement best practice is desirable.
Position Salary Range:
$54,600-$62,600 per year; depending on experience
Essential Duties:
Process all departmental human resource activities, ensuring adherence with college and university policies, practices and regulations.
Oversee and manage the full lifecycle of talent acquisition, from initial candidate sourcing and recruitment through selection and onboarding.
Processes personnel actions (e.g., hires, terminations, salary changes, promotions) and maintains accurate records and documentation.
Coordinate and manage the School's formal onboarding and offboarding process for all employee classifications.
Responsible for RA/TA, student worker, and grader hires and renewals, including entering tuition waivers and scholarships.
Create and maintain spreadsheets used for payroll and hiring.
Address inquiries from staff and students regarding HR processes, payroll, benefits, and HR policies, providing accurate and timely resolutions.
Coordinates and processes visa applications for employees and non-employees.
Assists in overseeing, managing, and participating in internal and external audit requests; prepares audit documents.
Serves as the Workday Operational Timekeeper, ensuring timely and accurate biweekly time entry by sending reminders, reviewing submissions, and resolving discrepancies prior to final processing.
Processes payroll transactions for employees and oversees payroll functions, ensuring accuracy in payroll information, funding changes, and bi-weekly reviews while investigating discrepancies to ensure timely and correct employee payments.
Recommends or participates in the development of new procedures or review existing internal procedures, then assist in implementing.
May supervise, train and evaluate assigned staff and/or student workers.
Provides support for special projects, including research, analysis, and process improvement.

Working Environment:
Activities are performed in an environmentally controlled office setting subject to extended periods of sitting, keyboarding, and manipulating a computer mouse.
Using software and computer equipment (i.e. monitor, keyboard, mouse) for extended periods of time.
Stand for varying lengths of time and walk moderate distances to perform work.
Occasional bending, stooping, reaching, and lifting up to 25 pounds.
