Job Description:

NOTE: This role is based in New York City and encourages a minimum of two days per week in the SoHo office. Some roles or teams may require additional in-office attendance if the essential functions of the role require it.

THE OPPORTUNITY

The CBG Marketing Creative Team is focused on creating materials to promote books for young readers, middle-graders, and teens in support of our marketing, publicity, sales, and conventions teams.

Under the direction of the Design Director, and working with a team of marketers and designers, the Designer will design and illustrate a wide range of creative solutions from concept to completion to support CBG Marketing and Publicity needs.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Help conceive/produce great ideas and design based on creative briefs and marketing strategy
• With guidance of the Director, develop design concepts independently and collaboratively, working closely with all levels of the creative team, including project managers, and art directors
• Design a variety of print materials, including advertisements, logos, posters, postcards, POP, bookmarks, invitations, signage, catalogs, and sell sheets
• Design a variety of digital marketing assets including website banner ads, graphics, social media posts, and animated gifs
• Assist with preparing print and digital files for production

Qualifications

HOW YOU CAN FIT (Qualifications)

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Excellent design, typography, and illustration skills
• Extensive experience with the Mac Operating System and the Adobe
• Creative Cloud Suite. Be proficient in Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign and Acrobat. Basic understanding of After Effects and creating motion graphics a plus.
• Extensive knowledge of design and production processes, and can deliver accurate, packaged design files.
• Strong sense of design, detail, and color.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to take direction, constructive criticism, and accept redirects with a positive, productive attitude.
• Strong problem solving abilities a must.
• Ability to meet deadlines for multiple projects simultaneously and be flexible to the ever-changing environment of a fast-pivoting company.

Experience and Education:

Experience: 2-4 years of experience in print and digital graphic design

Education: BA/BFA in Graphic Design/Arts
