Developer, Integration Full Description

Position Summary
Under general direction, this position is responsible for participating in the planning, coordination, and solution development and implementation activities related to the integration of applications and technologies within the college system environment. This includes researching, designing, documenting, and modifying software specifications throughout the production lifecycle. Proven communication skills, problem solving skills, proficiency in programming languages and data structures, and knowledge of integration best practices are critical.

Primary Duties Performed
  • Perform application lifecycle activities, including: code, monitor, maintain, test, and debug software applications; follow established change management processes and guidelines for programming and documentation; participate in code reviews and enforce code standards; develop and execute test plan development; research and evaluate new technology, products, specialized hardware, and tools to optimize development and functionality of applications; make recommendations to management and customers.
  • Prepare detailed technical specifications for electronic interfaces and data exchanges with internal and external applications and systems and maintain accurate, translate functional specifications into technical designs, and complete and current documentation of these solutions, and convert data integration models and other design specifications to source codes.
  • Develop processes and logic to optimize data integration platform to provide optimal performance under increasing data volumes according to the organization's information services policies as well as best practices; and conduct review of other integration developers' development efforts to ensure consistent methodologies are followed and to make recommendations where necessary.
  • Provide support to complex operational activities and recoveries; coordinate with software vendors and external service providers; troubleshoot escalated software bugs and provide fixes.
  • Contribute to project documentation, including internal documentation related to development/support, is maintained in a standard format that is easily accessible; provide support for application integrations across all lines of business, including external customer and employee facing applications.
  • Stay up to date on emerging technology solutions in the data integration platforms and associated technologies to meet the changing needs of the enterprise portfolio and expectations.

Qualifications/Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of direct involvement with the design, development and execution of data integration and solutions in a hybrid cloud and on-premises environment.
  • Experience with Ellucian Banner SIS and ERP systems is preferred.
  • Experience in higher education is preferred.

Working Conditions
May be on call during non-working hours. Regular travel within the district with occasional travel to outside locations.
