Job Summary  | The Student Support Advancement team at the University of Utah is seeking an innovative, creative, and hard-working fundraising professional to help secure resources for scholarships and student support programs and priorities. The candidate will be responsible for creating, managing, and executing the team’s annual giving strategy and plan, in addition to supporting stewardship efforts and campaigns. The desired candidate will have the maturity, wisdom, and collaborative skills necessary to gain the trust and confidence of University leadership across various departments.   

Responsibilities  | Develop, execute, and oversee the Student Success Advancement (SSA) annual giving strategy and plans to increase annual giving level gifts for a variety of programs and scholarships across Undergraduate Studies, the Honors College, Office of Scholarships and Financial Aid, Student Affairs, and the Graduate School. These include general scholarships, housing scholarships, student health and wellness centers, student belonging centers, and innovative programs to increase students’ graduation and retention rates. Work in close collaboration with University Advancement’s annual giving team to align best practices, timing of appeals, etc., and create a best-in-class experience for current and potential donors. Track, analyze, and oversee the SSA’s annual giving level donor base to identify trends and campaign efforts that will lead to increased annual gifts. Create thoughtful communications campaigns for a variety of purposes including annual mailing appeals, stewardship, and general donor communications as needed. Manage all stewardship campaigns for annual giving level appeals. Manage all crowdfunding and U giving website pages and projects.  Ensure the Student Philanthropy and Engagement Center is kept aware of student success priorities, and maintain cases for support for various projects and programs for student callers.  Manage all SSA Giving Day and Welcome U campaigns in coordination with the Annual Giving team in Central Advancement. Serve as a liaison to all partner offices to ensure pages are built, marketing plans are established, and donors are solicited through email and other digital appeals.  Working in partnership with SSA fundraisers, this position is also expected to help solicit matching donations for Giving Day pages. Design emails, event invites, impact graphics and other communications pieces using ThankView, Mailchimp, Canva, and/or Adobe Creative Cloud products as necessary. Develop innovative and impactful ways of thanking donors for their support. Assist in the planning and managing of stewardship events as appropriate. Assist in organizing and implementing other fundraising campaigns and special development projects and other annual giving and stewardship projects as needed.

Minimum Qualifications  | Bachelor’s degree in communications, Public Relations, Marketing, or a related field, or equivalency; and demonstrated human relations and effective communication skills required. Three or more years of fundraising experience such as crowdfunding, direct donor solicitations, stewardship experience, and a successful track record of raising donations, is preferred. Demonstrated excellent writing and design skills, event and project management experience, and strong interpersonal skills.
