About the Opportunity
As the Director, Application Services for Ellucian Managed Services, you will oversee a team providing both functional and technical support for enterprise applications, including the Ellucian Banner ERP system and related data and reporting solutions. This role supports multiple sites. Your role involves collaborating with end-users to understand, document, and improve business processes and workflows, ensuring optimal use of technology to meet the college's mission, goals, and objectives. You will lead on-site and remote cross-functional teams comprised of programmer analysts, system and database administrators, and functional experts to enhance application and data utilization across the organization.

  • Oversee system administration for the Banner ERP and related applications.
  • Act as a proactive, innovative leader, fostering strong customer relationships and guiding modernization efforts.
  • Consult with management on project proposals to define goals, timelines, resources, and staffing needs.
  • Manage projects and resources effectively, using strong project management skills to set priorities, communicate updates, and meet deadlines.
  • Develop and implement change management, communication plans, testing procedures, and documentation for Banner and related systems.
  • Serve as liaison and provide technical support for administrative applications, including configuration and user guidance.
  • Support staff and administration in evaluating, selecting, and maintaining system solutions.
  • Deliver systems analysis, problem-solving, programming, and reporting to ensure efficient use of administrative information systems.
  • Implement quality assurance practices for change and problem management.
  • Evaluate third-party software and hardware for compatibility and usefulness.
  • Plan and manage data storage, archival operations, and maintenance contracts.
  • Assist the site leader in developing policies, procedures, and technical standards for cost-effective system management.
  • Design and implement integration of additional data sources into the Oracle and other databases as needed.
  • Provide leadership and coordination for remote programming and reporting resources.
  • Ensure compliance with evolving federal and state reporting requirements.
  • Train end users and technical staff, mentor analysts, and prepare status reports.
  • Promote communication through regular meetings and status updates.
  • Oversee business analysis and document changes to processes and procedures.
  • Manage ERP support, including Banner environments, upgrades, patches, and special requests.
  • Drive continuous improvement, establish KPIs, and standardize delivery based on up-to-date regulations, industry standards, and best practices.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to complete ERP projects and implementations, ensuring alignment with institutional objectives.

What you will bring
  • 7-9 years of related experience and/or training, including at least five years in higher education IT management.
  • Proven leadership experience with a track record of successful system implementations and team management.
  • Strong functional and technical knowledge of Ellucian Banner ERP is required; experience with Ellucian Banner SaaS or other higher education SaaS ERP systems is preferred.
  • Solid programming skills and strong project management capabilities required (PMP certification preferred).
  • Broad technical background, including implementation of administrative or academic systems in higher education.
  • Knowledge of industry trends, standards, and higher education core business processes.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; strong interpersonal and stakeholder management abilities.
  • Ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment with competing priorities.
  • Demonstrated experience in planning and managing enterprise-wide change initiatives.
  • High degree of professionalism, creativity, and a collaborative, team-oriented approach.
  • Willingness and ability to travel as required by project demands.
