Responsibilities include identifying departmental priorities; enhancing academic and career development of students; performing assessments to determine unit and program effectiveness; supervising coordinators and staff; and collaborating with colleges to collect and analyze post-graduation outcomes to adjust programs and services as needed. Additionally, the director offers leadership and vision for planning, coordination, supervision, and evaluation of academic support services, while maintaining financial oversight for all departmental budgets—including state, endowment, grant, gift, and revenue-generating funds—and writing and reviewing contracts, agreements, and grants.
