Job Summary:
Provides strategic leadership for the Office of Confidential Advocacy, Support, and Education (CASE), including advocacy, prevention education, support, crisis response, and campus-wide violence prevention initiatives. Directs departmental operations, establishes long-term strategic priorities, develops institutional policies and protocols, oversees assessment and resource allocation, and serves as the university's primary leader for support and interpersonal violence prevention efforts. Collaborates with campus and external partners to promote student well-being, safety, retention, and success.

The individual serving in this position will play a crucial role in leading advocacy, prevention education, support, crisis response, and campus-wide violence prevention initiatives on campus.  

This position reports to the Assistant Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs and Dean of Students.

Job Description:
Strategic Leadership & Department Administration
  • Provides vision, leadership, and strategic direction for all CASE programs, services, and initiatives.
  • Establishes departmental goals, priorities, and strategic plans aligned with divisional and university objectives.
  • Directs the development, implementation, and evaluation of departmental policies, procedures, and protocols.
  • Oversees departmental budgeting, resource allocation, grant opportunities, and fiscal planning.
  • Develops operational and assessment plans to evaluate program effectiveness and student outcomes.
  • Utilizes assessment data, campus climate information, and emerging best practices to inform strategic decision-making.
Support & Case Management Oversight
  • Provides oversight of case management services involving students, faculty, and staff impacted by interpersonal violence, crisis situations, and other significant student concerns.
  • Oversees departmental response protocols for high-risk and complex situations.
  • Serves as a resource and consultant regarding well-being, safety concerns, and crisis intervention.
  • Coordinates with university leadership regarding significant student welfare matters and campus response efforts.
  • Provides oversight for after-hours crisis response systems and protocols.
Prevention & Educational Leadership
  • Establishes a comprehensive prevention and education framework to address interpersonal violence, relationship violence, stalking, sexual misconduct, and related concerns.
  • Oversees campus-wide prevention initiatives designed to promote healthy relationships, consent education, bystander intervention, and student well-being.
  • Evaluates institutional prevention efforts and ensures alignment with evidence-based and trauma-informed practices.
  • Identifies emerging trends and develops innovative strategies to address student safety and support needs.
Collaboration & Campus Partnerships
  • Serves as the primary liaison to university departments, student organizations, faculty, staff, community agencies, and external stakeholders regarding advocacy and prevention initiatives.
  • Partners with university leadership to develop coordinated responses to student support issues and campus concerns.
  • Represents the department on institutional committees, task forces, and strategic planning groups.
  • Cultivates collaborative relationships with local service providers, healthcare organizations, law enforcement partners, and community agencies.
Personnel Management
  • Provides supervision, leadership, and professional development for departmental staff.
  • Establishes performance expectations and evaluates staff effectiveness.
  • Promotes a culture of continuous improvement, collaboration, and student-centered service.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Provides leadership, vision, and strategic direction for the student support and advocacy area.
  • Coordinates after-hours on-call rotation for crisis response, students of concern, and/or sexual violence-related matters.
  • Creates, implements, and interprets departmental policies.
  • Provides direction regarding departmental assessment strategies to gauge effectiveness of programs and services.
  • Directs case management related to crisis response, students of concern, and/or sexual violence-related matters.
  • Oversees assessment of situations involving students of concern and determines appropriate courses of action.
  • Interfaces with parents, faculty, and staff in an effort to address issues related to students of concern.
  • Develops and manages departmental budget and funding sources.
  • Provides guidance and supervision to staff.
